LSU 38 OSU 24

Buzzer doesn't even know his own team that well... He was going on and on about how great a corner Jamario O'Neal would be if Donald Washington couldnt play, when O'Neal is an average safety as best.

Kansas, maybe. Hurt by being ranked so low from the onset. Actually somewhat comparable situations to OSU. Both played weak schedules and benefited by not having to play in a title game.

Hawaii, I would disagree.

I'm just saying, the response to the weak schedule accusation is always "we can only play the teams on our schedule." Which is fine, but when there are teams with equal or better records, you can't say you deserve to be in the title game based on your record and that the other teams "didn't take care of business."

Other teams took care of business just as well as OSU and the VOTERS decided OSU was better. It had nothing to do with OSU "earning" anything.

I never said earned, I will agree with your statement that the voters decided who was better.

Yes 11-1, with a loss to a team that went to the Rose Bowl (Prior to NC). Again, I'm not saying Ohio State was the best team in the country and if there was a playoff, I doubt they would make the NC. But, they had only one loss, when teams like USC and UGA had two. Thats just how the system works.

Your right, they did have two losses. But so did LSU, and we saw how OSU faired against them. :D

I guess that maybe I am a little different(no agreement needed). Maybe I love the game more then a team, or maybe it is that I just tend to like strong programs-programs that put a lot in the program, and that makes winning a priority.

I am a Tennessee fan, I like UT, I respect their program. I like the SEC as a conference, because it is competitive, and has so many great teams/programs. I like to watch Georgia, Florida, Auburn, Kentucky, and all the other programs. But, I do like to watch, and respect, other programs as well: OSU, USC, WVU, Oklahoma, and several others.

I watched the game last night and was perfectly happy watching it. I am not a big LSU fan, I am not a big OSU fan, but I do like both of their programs. Both schools make winning a priority and have quality programs. I did not care to much which team won, I just wanted to watch a good game. I enjoyed it, and, contrary to some, thought it was a good game.

I am not a OSU hater, I just posted the special meal for NCF, because he was so outspoken, just having fun.

OK, LSU is the National Champion, according to the current system. The current system rewards an entire season and not just a game or two at the end of the season. So yes, LSU is the best team of 2007.

And how do we know that for sure? I mean it was just people opinions that put LSU in the title game? I mean they did lose two games, and one of them was to an Arkansas team that is decent but not that good. Then all they had to do was beat an overrated OSU team that should not have been in the title game. While say USC whooped a team that beat OSU at OSU. Then well Georgia if they were given a shot with just two losses like LSU had, then Georgia right now might be the National Champs. That is what sucks about college football. We never really have a true National Champion, and there is no way you can say for sure that LSU is definitely the best team...

All those teams mentioned except Kansas had two "L's" They are the only team that had a solid argument about not being in the game. See above post. The current system rewards a full season of Playing well, not just at the end of the season. USC lost to Stanford for cryin out loud. WVU-Pitt. UGA got beat by So. Carolina. Missouri got beat by the same team twice.

Should the title game be the teams that are playing the best right now?

I don't think so. It should reward teams who played well ALL SEASON long. Oh and by the way, the spot in the NC game was not awarded, it was earned!

:thumb: Excellent!!!!!

I don't support or cheer for SEC schools, but I will give them their due. They are by far the #1 football conference in the land. :thumb:

That's fine and dandy if you feel that way you have the right too. To act like there isn't a snowballs chance that UK is better is pretty arrogant. They did physically whip the team that physically whipped OSU last night! I'll be the first to give credit to OSU and their program. IMO they vastly overachieved this year and I tip my hat too them for it. They weren't supposed to be this good this year. The problem is some OSU folks pound their chest and think because they are OSU they are automatically better. I got news for you when you play Florida, LSU, Tenn, Georgia week in week out then OSU doesn't look very scary at all! OSU got whipped physically by LSU, they got embarresed when they played Florida. KY beat LSU, played Florida within 8, went to 4 OT's with Tenn and was in the Georgia game only to lose by 11 I think it was. I'd love to put the pads on and play OSU! Do you really think OSU is better than LSU,Fla,Tenn+Geo and KY by a lot? If OSU gets down then it's over! They can't play catchup!

OSU has a proud tradition but so did Florida State:)

See, this is the thing that irks me so much.

How is it, that LSU whipping OSU somehow means that UK close to being on par with OSU? Or UK beating a completely depleted, and down, Florida St. team announces their arrive to the national spotlight? UK has done what exactly to warrant ANYONE saying that they deserve to be mentioned with other elite programs? This past season will likely serve as the high water mark for the program for the foreseeable future, yet you equate yourselves to programs who compete for national titles year in and year out? The SEC is a great conference, but UK is far from great (and far from being one of the top teams in that conference).

We can play the who beat who game all day. Lets see, Michigan beat Florida, Florida beat UK, UK beat LSU, and LSU beat OSU so therfore we can safely say that Michigan is better than OSU :creepy:?

Sorry to direct the venom at you, just a pet peeve of mine.

How can you say they belong in the game. They got spanked and it wasn't even fun to watch. I think you would even admit that USC and UGA would beat OSU. So that puts them at #4 at best (imo) so how does that allow them to earn a shot in the NC.

My friend, it's about who DESERVES the opportunity, not what "makes the game fun to watch". I think that everyone had OSU near the botttom of their list of 1 loss teams. All the other teams had to do was win.......they didn't, and didn't deserve to be there, even if OSU had gotten whipped by 100. The regular season has to mean something right?? If not, then why even bother playing the games?

It is much easier to take care of business in the Big 10.... I'm done. I think it's CLEAR that OSU is not a top 5 team in the country.

So by that logic, since it's much easier to make the playoffs in the NFC than the AFC, CLEARLY the teams from the NFC don't deserve to play in the Super Bowl. Silly Rules.

Which is why we complain about it!!! You said yourself that OSU wasn't a Top 5 team this year yet we have to sit and watch them get clobbered, once again, in the NC game because of the lack of teams they played.

Not picking on you, but.......

So you know the rules before you begin playing the game. The rules give you an outcome that you don't like at the end of the game, and you..........want to change the rules?

Rules were the same for everyone. Of course I've come to realize that nothing will appease you SEC guys, save me saying that every 2 loss SEC team that choked off a game should get in over any 1 loss team from the Big 10.

So by that logic, since it's much easier to make the playoffs in the NFC than the AFC, CLEARLY the teams from the NFC don't deserve to play in the Super Bowl. Silly Rules.

Horrible comparison. In the NFL a team from the NFC and a team from the AFC has to in the superbowl. In the NCAA a team from the Big 10 doesn't have to play in the national title game. And as tOSU has proven the past two years, a team from the Big 10 probably shouldn't play in the NT.

I haven't read one single post so far in this thread, so this is my take on the game, and the season..

First off, great job by OSU to come out early and set the tone. Beanie's big run was HUGE and I was going nuts when he took it all the way. I honestly didn't like Boeckman keeping the ball 2 times in a row and running on 3rd down, I just didn't like it. The change of the game was when LSU blocked the field goal, that really, really hurt us. For me, the 2 biggest difference's in the out come of this game is 1. Robiskie dropping the touchdown pass that could have put us up 17-10, but instead we got our field goal blocked, and 2. on the 4th and 23 we get the STUPID penalty on roughing the kicker, and those to plays both hurt us. All in all, I am very pleased. I know I have put Ohio State to be the best team in this country, and honestly I still think they are among them. Just stupid mistakes, and DUMB penalties cost us the game. Not making ANY excuses, it's just the facts. I am happy that we got back to this championship game, because not many people at all seen us winning no more than 8 or 9 games. I didn't expect this, and I was so pleased on the season we had. Say what you want about the schedule, but the Buck's beat some pretty good teams this season.

This season was AWESOME. I didn't expect the Buck's to go 11-1 in the regular season and end it with another #1 beside their name. It was great. I didn't miss a game, and I never doubted that we were among the best in the country. Sure, losing this game sucks, it does. Am I sad? Yes. Am I angry? Somewhat. Am I pleased with how we did this season? YES. It sucks going to back to back BCS title games and losing them both, but it's OK. The Buck's are getting to the top, they just can't get over that last hump. But they will. I believe with everything inside me that we will be back next season, IF everyone decides to come back. But the #1 thing I want people to know is that I AM STILL A DIE HARD OHIO STATE FOOTBALL FAN. I wouldn't have cared if we lost this game 65-0, I WOULD STILL BE A DIE HARD FAN. I will always be a die hard Buckeye's fan no matter what. I will still go to as many games as possible, no matter what is going on. It's kind of what Kentucky basketball fans are going through. No one expected them to be 10-2, or 12-1 right now, but I don't think anyone expected them to be 6-7. But DIE HARD fans, are still DIE HARD fans. You UK fans on here, yeah I give you a hard time sometimes, but I still respect all of you. You guys stay loyal to your team, and that's saying something. But I will close with this, good job Buck's and it sucks we couldn't add another championship to the trophy case. But we WILL be back, and I can't wait until next season :thumb: GO BUCKS

Pretty good post...However I still would like to know what you clarify as a good team in any sport? Because it seems I always see you say on here, about just almost any team on how that team is a pretty good team actually. When a lot of them are usually just average at best. Because OSU did not beat some pretty good teams this year, they beat some pretty average teams this year for the second year in a row. When they actually ran up against a good team, they have gotten beaten two years in a row...
