January 8, 200818 yr You tOSU guys are great. The "we took care of business and they didn't" argument doesn't really work when you don't go undefeated. OSU DIDN'T take care of business. By your argument, the title gave should've been Kansas vs. Hawaii. I am the furtherest thing from a Buckeye fan. The system is what it is. The numbers go into a computer and it spits out who will be playing. Do I think Ohio State is a top 5 team? No. I think they are a borderline top 10 team that was in a weak BCS conference. Same goes for WVU. Every team this season had extreme flaws and marks against them. The three teams that most feel are the best all ended the season with 2 losses. You are going to have a hard time convincing me that if you take in to consideration strength of schedule, who teams lost to, how they looked, etc. that they (insert team here) genuinely deserved to be in the title game over OSU. The season was a mess and the final product (Nat'l title game) was evident of that.

Im just glad I am not the one having to make excuses right now though! :lol: Yes 11-1, with a loss to a team that went to the Rose Bowl (Prior to NC). Again, I'm not saying Ohio State was the best team in the country and if there was a playoff, I doubt they would make the NC. But, they had only one loss, when teams like USC and UGA had two. Thats just how the system works.

The logic doesn't work unless you're making a case for Hawaii playing in the title game. They DID take care of business. However, I don't see anyone saying Hawaii should've been in the title game.

January 8, 200818 yr I think it has to do with the fact that Hawaii plays in a non BCS conference. How about this, OSU did better "taking care of business" than USC and UGA. 1 loss vs 2 losses... regardless of SoS, it is what it is. UGA, in my opinion, is the best team in the country right now, if they hadn't lost to UT, they would have been in the SEC Championship and might have gotten their chance... but they didn't win when they had to.

If you define "taking care of business" as going undefeated, then yes you would be correct. But LSU took care of business by winning the west and then the SEC title game. I think people are just defining "taking care of business" as doing what it takes to get to the title game, not really validating their ranking. Flaws of teams at the end... LSU (lost to Kentucky and Arkansas in close games) OSU (lost to Illinois in a close game) UGA (lost to S. Carolina that did not make a bowl, got blown out by Tennessee) OU (lost at home to a .500 Colorado team, had it handed to them by Texas Tech) Hawaii (strength of schedule was ranked 453,239. Close calls to Boise State, Washington, and other pretenders) USC (beat by Oregon, lost to a helpless Stanford team) WVU (lost to S. Florida and a pitiful Pitt team)

Hurt by being ranked so low from the onset. Actually somewhat comparable situations to OSU. Both played weak schedules and benefited by not having to play in a title game. Hawaii, I would disagree.
