I don't recall mentioning that Montgomery was better? Just said the tourny was set up nice for Mason. You can say the same about the tourny that Montgomery just hosted!

Not trying to make any excuses. Just saying that Mason may have had some fresher legs! and part of the reason for that is they built a big enough lead to take their main players out.

I can't believe no one has mentioned the and-one tip in Darius made while he was being blocked out and falling to the ground. It was the most incredible shot I've seen this year.

Not to say that my Indians couldn't pull an upset, but clearly Mason Co. is the class of the region and probably the state.

I agree, from listening to the game over the radio is seemed as if Stephens missed alot of shots around the rim.....but that's easy to do when Darius Miller is between you and the goal!

 

Several of us made the comment while watching last night, how poorly Stephens finishes around the hoop, especially given his size and strength; and Campbell doesn't have any Darius Miller's.

Congrats Royals on a win on an off day,Credit Montgomery County for that off day though.Very physical game withs lots of Defense on both sides.Setty was really off this game and hurt Mason some on both sides of the ball.I'm going to call out the students here at Mason,(where have u guys been) another very weak student section for Mason today at home.Still like our chances in the region after today but Montgomery showed they are the #2 team in this region for sure.Up next the Scott County Cardinals and i hope to see a great student section for this game guys!

You're right about that shot - it should have been youtubed. Much more acrobatic and impressive than the dunk, which is easy for someone like Darius when the defense gets caught napping (and it was about the ONLY time the defense was napping).

Most of the reason for that is that they deserve the credit for being a solid team, a team capable of going 8 to 9 players deep despite the margin of points. Montgomery County on two or three different occassions had the chance to put away Campbell County in Saturdays semifinal after holding leads of 13 points. When your up you better nail your opponent down for good or else you will have a ballgame. Credit the Camels and their never give up attitude for making it a game in the semifinals. If Campbell County makes their free throws then quite possibly Montgomery County is not playing Mason County in the finals. They were 9-20 from the line and got beat by 9 points. A 92-63 win by the Indians over St Patricks in the quarterfinals was enough to rest the starters of the Indians legs in their tournament opener.

Campbell missed 11 free throws and Montgomery missed 9. I think it was the timing of those CC misses; and the fact that some were probably front ends of 1-and-1s that makes their 11 misses stand out more than MC's 9.

What would be the difference, I think that the 3 at the end of the third quarter stands out more than some of the others, but in the end they still count towards the 11 they missed. That would have been a 3 point lead into the 4th quarter and quite possibly a different game.

Yes we all know how that turned out in the regional tournament last year, you do a great job of keeping our minds refreshed that read on here. I would probably send out refreshers often as well if I was a fan of a school who went 17 years without a regional championship. I can't wait for the tournaments to begin again this year.

 

Actually, LOAD, I don't have a problem with that at all. Not that Mason County should need any BGP bulletin board material to get them motivated in this year's regional tourney; but I think that it's a very good thing to keep getting reminded about last year. I'm guessing that the coaches do it on a regular basis, and to see it reinforced over and over again somewhere like here should help keep "the eye on the prize".:thumb:
