Beechwood played with their 2nd leading scorer in Brian Romas. Covington Catholic was only up 1 at halftime but gradually tacked onto the lead as the game wore on. Cov. Cath. drove the ball at will against the Tigers and got them in foul trouble.

So Brian Romes played? I heard he was injured last night. Any other highlights?

How long is Bondick out for CovCath?

I read at least 4 weeks that was in the Cov Cath vs Elliott County thread

Four to six weeks...with it looking like four more than six.

If there is one weakest of this years version of CovCath basketball it is playing down to teams. For what ever reason, CovCath just doesn't seem to be able to play a local team to the same level that they do a out of town team. I don't know if they look down at the local teams, or think they don't have to play with the same intensity that they do against the LexCath, Mason County, or Elliott County teams, but they just don't. If CovCath played at the same level that they did tonight against Beechwood, then they would have never beat (in fact would have been blown out of the gym) Elliott County or LexCath much less been in the game against Mason County. I also think they miss the glue that binds this team together very much and that is one Chris Bondick. Look for a much better game tomorrow against Louisville Trinity at Thomas Moore College..

CovCath stats..

Suprised it wasn't by much more. But figured Cov. Cath would win kind of big?!

Understandable, but Beechwood is 6-3 with a seven point loss to Boone County and an overtime loss to Newport. With that being said, CovCath probably still should have won a bit more convincingly.

I'll give them a break here--Kind of a tough week for the Colonels. Dealing with the tragedy and emotion of the recent events, as well as adjusting to playing without Bondick for the first time. CovCath seemed to turn it on after the half, and wore down the Tigers in the 2nd half. Beechies may have something to say about the 9th region "A"?

Tough road for the Beechies in the All "A."

First round/quarterfinal matchup with Covington Holy Cross. Potential second round/semifinal matchup with Newport Catholic/Newport/Bellevue winner. St. Henry likely the strongest team on the other half of the bracket.

Beechwood was horrible from the free throw line tonight, they had to have shot under 50% from the line. Trey Beutel played well for the tigers and it seemed like Maile had his way down low drawing numerous fouls and scoring with ease. The tigers suprised me the first half as i thought by then it would be a 15 point lead for the colonels. I did enjoy the "sic wit da ball" chant by the CCH student section when a certain player had the ball. lol

I heard the CCH announcers warning that their lack of FT shooting may hurt them down the line as well--Apparently both shot poorly from the line?
