January 4, 200818 yr After reading various outlets...a summary of opinions... Biggest Loser of the night? May very well be Romney...especially now that McCain is surging in New Hampshire. Clinton...wake-up call but her wound not nearly as deep as it is for Romney. Iowa historically picks losers...Obama hopes to buck that trend in NH. Edwards is done...money is practically gone.. Fred Thompson...you can pick up your lovely parting gifts at the door...he is done. Rudy...where is Rudy? Gone "dark"...waiting on Florida, in late January. It is a dicey proposition to count FL as a win, but may be his best strategy...he will have money...and a Guiliani nomination was going to be tight and against a divided party.. if he was going to win anyway...he needs Romney out...looks like that is possible...and he needs Huckabee to knock off McCain...it may just happen. Huckabee will get the bounce...for how long? McCain will get the press as they head to NH. A tight primary schedule hurts Huckabee because it will be difficult for him to raise money. It will be fun to follow.
January 4, 200818 yr Biggest losers are 1) Clinton and 2) Romney. The Democratic campaign is about to turn very nasty because Hillary will empty whatever bag of dirt she has dug up on Obama before she throws in the towel. Not only did Hillary lose soundly to a totally unqualified opponent, she also lost to a second one in Edwards. Her only shot is to sling mud at Obama. I agree that Edwards is not going to have enough money to run a competitive national campaign. Romney lost despite outspending Huckabee by a wide margin. Now, Huckabee will see an influx of money that will allow him to compete in most states and force Romney to dip into his personal fortune to try to keep pace. A Romney win would have probably finished off Huckabee. IMO, the biggest loser tonight was the Democratic Party. All three of its viable candidates are far to the left of the American political mainstream. None of the three have any executive experience and none of them have any foreign policy credentials. If world events between now and November remind voters of the real threat of Islamic terrorism, it will be very hard for any Democrat to get elected.
January 4, 200818 yr I think Romney is in trouble. His loss to Huckabee opens a lot of avenues and gives new energy to McCain. The democrats are in trouble regardless of who wins out for them imo.
January 4, 200818 yr The Edwards/Clinton/Obama fight is going to get ugly. It could lose the general election for them. I think Thompson is done. Rudy is going to continue to slide the rest of this month. He'll win Nevada, but lose Michigan. Even Florida isn't a sure thing for Rudy. Huckabee and Romney need to keep it clean to succeed. McCain gets a bounce in New Hampshire.

Rudy could pull a lot of states on 2/5 and Huckabee/Romney need to build steam going into 2/5 and look for some of those states to go their way since they are the ones with the momentum. Huckabee win in South Carolina would be huge. Florida would be another pivotal state. Huckabee pulls it and he is the favorite going into 2/5. Rudy pulls it and he gives credence to his strategy. Romney pulls it and he regains his positioning. McCain proves he can win something other than NH. Not sure what to make of Michigan with the sanctions against it. I agree that the 3 Amigo(a)s of the Dems are going to get nasty. The Clinton machine makes Rove look like a choir boy. Speaking of Rove, where has Shue been in this debate?
January 4, 200818 yr Speaking of Rove, where has Shue been in this debate? I literally came face to face with him at a restaurant in Seaside, Florida while on vacation a few months ago.
January 4, 200818 yr I literally came face to face with him at a restaurant in Seaside, Florida while on vacation a few months ago. Rove or Shue? Has anyone ever seen Rove and Shue in the same place at the same time? Could the two be the same person??????

January 4, 200818 yr LBBC: Probably the main reason I've been so quiet on it is the sourness of the Bush era with the Fletcher era piled on top have left a general distaste for politics in my mouth. I've seriously considered not even voting in this year's elections. It's very disillusioning.
January 4, 200818 yr Rove or Shue? Has anyone ever seen Rove and Shue in the same place at the same time? Could the two be the same person?????? Sorry, I misread your post and thought you were referring to Rove. As far as I know, I have not met Schue. :sssh:
January 4, 200818 yr How will The Clinton Attack Machine go about attacking Obama? They'll harp on his inexperience I believe.
January 5, 200818 yr They'll harp on his inexperience I believe. I don't see it working though. I think its fairly evident that the American people do not want more of the same. They want fresh, new ideals - and Sen. Obama best represents that.
January 5, 200818 yr I think the biggest loser was Romney. I've seen a couple of different sources that said he spent between 10 and 30 million dollars in Iowa only to come in second...
