Why do we vote for people who spend 100 million dollars to get a job that pays $400,000? They can't be too bright.

I prefer voting for people who have shown that they can succeed in the private sector to those who become fabulously wealthy without ever holding a non-government job (e.g., Bill Clinton). I attribute the willingness of people like Romney and Perot to spend more of their own money to get elected than they will ever earn in government salaries to patriotism and ambition.

They'll harp on his inexperience I believe.

I think Guilliani actually comes out of Iowa hurt. I know he didn't put much into winning the state...but now all the attention is on Huckabee and Romney. He stands the chance of falling into the "also ran" category.

Hillary is easily hurt the most out of Iowa. She has gone from the prohibitive favorite to fighting for her political life. None of the other candidates have ever been considered "unstoppable" as Hillary was just a short time ago so although they may also be fighting for their political life, the change in their political fortunes is not near as drastic as Hillary's.

Yet the Iowa electorate rejected her claims of having experience...her so-called experience is not resonating with voters.

Hillary might have some perception problems, but the fact remains that in percentage point terms she drew just 0.38% less of the voters than Edwards and actually left that state with more delegates than Edwards.

 

Biggest losers in Iowa: Dodd, Biden, Kucinich, Richardson, Gravel, Tancredo, Hunter, Giuliani and McCain.

Yet the Iowa electorate rejected her claims of having experience...her so-called experience is not resonating with voters.

 

I think, and I believe the debate tonight affirms it, that Democratic voters want change over experience, which makes Obama and Edwards the more attractive candidates.

What I can't figure out is why they feel that leaving troops in Iraq is a bad thing. It worked in Germany, Japan, the Phillipines and other places. The dem candidates sound almost cowardly with their posture of "one American death is one too many." I'm not sure I want any of this bunch to be Commander-in-Chief.

I think the biggest concern here is keeping more innocent Americans from losing their lives fighting a War that we should have never been in to begin with.

 

I can't figure out why anyone feels that they should be left there. I AM sure that I do not want THAT bunch as a commander-in-chief.

World of difference in these two wars. This war is basically over. The one thing in common with Vietnam is we required our troops to fight with one hand tied behind their backs.

 

My point is, in a secure Iraq (just assume), why not keep a large force there to help keep all of Southwest Asia stable. I'd even move the 5th fleet to permanently station in Basra. I'd also move everything at Ramstein AFB to Kandahar.

I didn't know that, how does that happen?
