January 2, 200818 yr I'm sure this has been discussed before, but... Can kids go to these schools who live out of the school's district if they pay tuition?
January 2, 200818 yr Yes ... from what I've always heard, those kids are usually more prevalent at Beechwood than Highlands.
January 3, 200818 yr Yes, but only if academically qualified and there is available space. True. It is my understanding that given the current population of the elementary school, it will be very difficult to get in as a tuition student in a few years.
January 3, 200818 yr Yes, but only if academically qualified and there is available space. Academically qualified? How is that determined?
January 3, 200818 yr Academically qualified? How is that determined? Transcripts from the school you are transferring from. And meet their guidelines. Trust me. I know from first hand experience. Been there, done that.
January 3, 200818 yr Probably wouldn't hurt if you're either 6' 5", 280 and strong as an ox; or 5' 10", 205 and run a 4.4" 40??

January 3, 200818 yr Don't quite get the "Smilies" face there my friend. Sense of humor?? You obviously don't understand??
January 3, 200818 yr Thanks for the responses. How much is tuition? You will have to wait for ballgame to fill you in since he has the correct answers. He will be able to tell you right down to the penny.
January 3, 200818 yr Thanks for the responses. How much is tuition? Fort Thomas Tuition Rates for 07-08 Grades 1-12: ADA contract = $1,850; No ADA contract = $4,300 Beechwood Tuition costs approximately $2800 per year.

January 3, 200818 yr That seems to me to be far below the per pupil cost. How do they do that? Keep in mind that OOD students are only admitted to the best of my knowledge when there is existing space available. Which means the districts are already paying the teacher the full amount; they already are paying for the buildings, the desks, the utilities and all the other fixed costs. So at least in my mind, any tuition they get from OOD students is gravy and just helps dilute the operating costs of the school district. And its not like it makes economic sense to live out of district and send your kid to Highlands, as I know I don't pay $4,300 per year in local school taxes. The OOD parent has to pay the local school tax for the district that he/she resides in and on top has to pay $4,300 per year to send their kid to Highlands. Thus, the OOD parent paying $4,300 per year isn't getting some bargain economically that I can see, but maybe I'm missing something.

Looking at the tuition at a private school, it looks like a bargain to me.
