Litkenhouse Rankings December 27th

Featured Replies

This rating system is clearly a joke, it allows the bigger schools that have 14 or 15 good players on their bench to run scores up on weak opponents, along with other size schools such as Elliot county and June Buchanan who choose to play their top 7 or 8 guys in big time blowouts to run scores up it appears for rating purposes, and I guess who can blame them. With expectations playing such a big part in most competitive situations, who can blame them for setting a high bar of expectation.

You obviously know very little about the situation at Elliott County and have clearly not seen any of their games. It is a shame some posters feel the need to take shots at programs about which they know absolutely nothing! And while we are at it, explain what possible benefit there is to a school outside of Jefferson County to run up scores to improve rankings. Exactly what difference does it make where a school is ranked in the Lit Ratings?

I'm a little confused. I just read today's Courier Journal. According to the same rankings in the paper ... Mason County is #1....Elliott fallls in at #4.

Are the rankings on this post accurate??

According to the article in the CJ this is the first poll of the season for them...how is there confusion about who they rank #1??

Did I read one or the other incorrectly?

Folks, take the personal stuff to the private messages. Let's try to stick to the topic and not to each other.

Let's see how this works. Team A's kids worked their tails off every summer for several years to become a good team...team B took the summers off and just put enough into the game to make the team. Now Team A is required to let their starters sit over half the game because Team B might get their feelings hurt. Give me a break!

I would guess that alot of it depends on positions and matchups.

What I dont understand is the 6'7 freshman is a real prospect and Elliott has a chance to be a really good team for quite a while if they develope some of the younger kids around him and what better time than now to start. This junior class is good because they were exposed to a high level of competion at a early age. Now is the perfect time to get 2 or 3 more freshman some PT.

Different week, different rankings.

If you only have 10 players, how can you avoid playing some of your top 8 at any time?
If Elliot county dresses only 10 players on their varsity why do they not dress 4 or 5 more kids from their junior varsity like everybody else does?? Are you going to tell us next they dont have a junior varsity?

No Sir! But what I can tell you is that I haven't kept up with other players minutes, but I have Fergusons and excepting out Christian Co, North OLdham,

Grace Academy, Cov Cath, he was only playing around 20-22 min. a game or 2 1/2 quarters. I have yet to see a coach whom lets the other team stay fairly close just to keep from running up the score. Most of the time every

player Elliott has plays when it is a 16th region game.

What if they dont have 4-5 players that have earned the right to dress Varsity?

Covington Catholic should be ranked higher then #9.

Other than that is looks pretty good.

IMO You have to earn your right to dress Varsity. He shouldnt just dress somebody to keep from running up the score on another team.

Hasn't Ballard lost a couple of games?

Yeah, I think they lost two in the KOB (although one was to an out of state team and wouldn't count). These ratings are based on stale info! They'll improve as the season progresses. They always do.
