Tuberville has always felt high octain offenses sell out the defense, he would much rather pound the ball and take the game over in the fourth qtr, thats his style and is easy for him to manage, I'm not sure how well he'll manage games that turn in to shootouts...

 

If I'm the HC, then Tony Franklin better be figuring out how to integrate his offense into my philosophy. If Franklin is such a great offensive mind, he should be able to figure out a way to scale it back some to mesh with Tuberville's style.

 

If anyone is expecting Auburn to start slinging the ball around like UK did under Mumme, I suspect they're badly mistaken...I think they'll still be a physical, run first team, with the hopes that Franklin can breathe some new life and creativity into the offense, particularly the passing game.

 

Personally, I can't understand why Tuberville would be under pressure. He's been very good, if not great, at Auburn. He had an undefeated season in which they should have got a shot at the title vs. USC (not his fault), he has consistently beat Alabama, and he's been pretty successful overall.

Tuberville is under pressure... I wish he would have moved on rather than sell out which IMO is what he is doing...

I disagree. Why would you go hire Tony Franklin if you are going to handcuff him? They will throw the ball or this was a ridiculous hire. They need to turn him loose if they are going to hire him. Hatcher has adapted to the talent he has at Ga South and I think Tony would do the same but I think it's crazy to handcuff him from what he does best. I think Auburn opens it up.

How is this going to effect his bussiness? Is he going to hire more help to free him up?

If you think Tony Franklin was unharmed in that whole thing, you are sadly mistaken. Wouldn't you consider being "back balled" from coaching by every school in the country for nearly 5 years would be pretty harmful? Tony worked hard to get himself back into the profession he loves. The other assistants on in that whole mess just gave up football for the most part. If you have not read Tony's first book called 4th Down and Life To Go, you need to do so. Sure it's one side of the story,but it's a side you obviously have not heard.

As a player who lived through most of that book, I can say about 95% of it that I had direct knowledge of is true. Tony may be all about Tony sometimes, but he's A. O.K in my book.

I would think that writing the book "back balled" him more than anything. No one wants their dirty laundry put forth in a book especially in coaching. He has gotten through all that and is now a hot comodity. I think he will do well at Auburn. He can run the ball better than most give him credit for.

 

I think that most ky high school football fans will testify that he has added a lot to the competition throughout the state because of "his" offense. Good luck do KY proud.

Ever since Casey County played Henry County this year I been intrigued by teams who run this offense. I have read his book and because of that I can say this.

I think Franklin knows who he is. He is very comfortable in who he is. I don't see him as arrogant. I see him as confident and humble. He will tell you that he has learn a lot of football from Hal Mumme and others. But he also has learned a lot of football from coaching his butt off and learning from each game like most excellent coaches. IMO

I don't know many football coaches who don't have egos, to some extent. It's probably a necessary evil for the position.

 

I do know that Tony would not have accepted the Auburn job without getting complete control of the offense and getting to keep his lucrative summer camp. Those are givens.
