December 13, 200718 yr Ever since Casey County played Henry County this year I been intrigued by teams who run this offense. I have read his book and because of that I can say this. I think Franklin knows who he is. He is very comfortable in who he is. I don't see him as arrogant. I see him as confident and humble. He will tell you that he has learn a lot of football from Hal Mumme and others. But he also has learned a lot of football from coaching his butt off and learning from each game like most excellent coaches. IMO I agree with your statements.

Lets be honest, if Mumme had not hired his buddy to be the D coordinator and he had hired someone with SEC experience and if he had a good handler to help him with the press, etc... He might still be at UK.

Auburn's defense will take a hit when TF's system is in full swing... AU has had a great defense because the offense they run is a ball control offense that is determined to have more time of possession than the opponent. When that changes expect the defense to not look so glamorous...

When that changes expect the defense to not look so glamorous... I love it when people don't know what they are talking about. The U.K offense with Tim Couch led the SEC in time of possesion. Teaxas Tech leads the Big 12 some years in 1st downs, And Tony has played ball control to some extent at Troy to help the young defense.

Wouldn't you consider being "back balled" from coaching by every school in the country for nearly 5 years would be pretty harmful? Tony worked hard to get himself back into the profession he loves. The other assistants on in that whole mess just gave up football for the most part. If you have not read Tony's first book called 4th Down and Life To Go, you need to do so. Sure it's one side of the story,but it's a side you obviously have not heard. I knew there was some serious fallout over that situation, but I didn't realize that sexual molestation by every college in the nation was part of the deal. Good for him for overcoming this.

Maybe the reason no other colleges touched Tony after the scandal is because outside of working for UK know one else was aware who he was. Now he has made a name for himself maybe that is why he was getting chances.

Well lets see, I said AU’s defense would suffer from Franklins style because of the swing in Time of possession, here’s some stats to assist you in understanding that statement… In Tony Franklin’s 2 years at Troy their opponent has averaged over 5 min more time of possession than Troy has… In the same two year span, AU has averaged over 3 min more TOP than their opponent… Troy -5 min. (bad for defense) AU +3 min. (good for defense) Do you understand how if that trend carries over at AU how it will effect the defense??? December 15, 200718 yr I don't want anyone to misunderstand me, I wish Tony Franklin nothing but the best, but AU is my second favorite team in large part because of the emphasis they place on defense… it bothers me to see them get away from that...

Franklyn is the master of the spread and with so many high schools in the south going to it, he will get great recruits to run his system. This spells trouble for everyone in the SEC, in my opinion.

I agree. He is, in essence, training his recruits in high school, to run his offense. They can come in with four years experience running it.
