Ouch! 2nd play of the game I think.

The Steelers look even worse as far as contending down the stretch although Davenport is solid. The good news out of it if there is any is that Fred Taylor should finally get into the Pro Bowl.

Any chance they might have had to make things interesting in the AFC playoffs just went out the window.

They are still looking pretty good tonight.

I think we're just fine. I hate to lose Willie, but one of my theories about NFL running backs is going to come true down the stretch.

And that is?

A dime a dozen?

Najeh will come in and do fine, and whomever else they pick up, which is likely to be Verron Haynes.

It's the same reason why Kolby Smith was able to come in and have 100-yard games off the bench cold.

This is a much bigger loss than people are recognizing...a Pro-Bowl back with big play ability. Pittsburg will miss him dearly in the playoffs!

I guess Fred Taylor will get into the Pro-Bowl after all, but this is terrible news for the Steelers.

As much as I love my FWP, Najeh is the big pound it out back that I'm use to seeing in the Steelers backfield, We'll see how this plays out when we go to Baltimore in 10 days...

Devastating loss... they dont have anyone on the rooster who can replace him. They have other backs but not like him.

You hate to see a player of WP's caliber getting injured but I think Pitt will be fine with Davenport. He doesn't have the speed but he's a workhorse.

Here's my take. Although you hate to lose WP, he changed the identity of the offense as the feature back. P'burgh no longer was the beat you in between the tackles, get the difficult yardage whenever you need it, to a big play offense. He gets -2, -1, 4, and then 22yds. This is not the running attack that the Steelers are used to having from the Bus years and before. WP is a quality back, but not the prototypical Steeler RB. If Najeh can stay healthy, and they resign Verron Haynes which they most likely will do today, they'll be no worse if not better in the run game IMO. And I'm sure I'll get the "he was leading the league in rushing" rolleyes, but that's my view. FWIW, I think the most glaring weakness on the Steelers O is the center position. Mahan is average to below average. He allowed 3 of the sacks last night from pressure right up the middle. Steelers aren't used to having anything less than a dominant/ProBowl center. Hope the offseason addresses that.

Go Bengals!

Willie said him and Fred work out in Florida and he said Fred could go in his place anytime.:ylsuper:
