Yeah man, Purdue, Wisconsin, Penn State, Illinois, and Michigan is weak. I know they may not be Florida's or LSU's but come on man, all of those teams are bowling. The Big 10 has 11 teams in it, 9 of those teams posted 7 wins or better, 1 had a 6-6 record, and the worst was Minnesota at 1-11. That's a pretty tough conference top to bottom. Not saying it's better than the SEC, but it's a whole lot tougher than some may think..

 

The Big 10's record this season was directly a product of almost all of the teams playing OOC patsies and in conference a lot of the teams were even. Don't try to pretend that this was a brutal conference--just even. Here are the Big 10's OOC wins against 2007 Bowl Teams:

 

Illinois and Indiana defeated Ball State

Michigan State defeated Bowling Green

Northwestern defeated Nevada (who finished 6-7)

and Purdue defeated Central Michigan

 

That's all folks, the Big 10 defeated ONE team in OOC competion outside of the MAC that is bowling this season. That team is Nevada that lost to New Mexico (NM played without their leading rusher) and finished 6-7. The Big 10 was WEAK, they were mostly even but they were WEAK. Give me one good reason that the Big 10 wasn't a fraud this season.....

LOL, almost half the teams in the Country are bowling. Have you added up how many bowl games there are and how many teams are bowling?

So stick to playing weak OOC teams, and don't get any better or ready for the tough SEC?

I guess ole Buzzer Beater didn't have much to say about these facts or Will Munny's other 2 posts.....He was all over this thread until logic got involved. :lol: Seriously though, with the graduation losses that UK has and the normal SEC schedule I don't see anything wrong with the 2008 schedule.

I don't see how a team who goes 7-5 with the players they have, go 8-4 the next year with losing what they do. I say they may go 6-6.

 

UK returns a ton of talent, 9 of 11 on defense with many backups, the entire OL with experience and more size, Locke,Dixon,Smith, Allen,Conner in the backfield, Lyons,Ford at WR, Grintner at TE, the kickers, and the addition of Pulley at QB, throw in some redshirts & greyshirts & frosh. and a somewhat easier schedule makes me think 8-4.

Temple is not on the 2008 schedule and Kentucky is still trying to find a replacement game. The MAC said it would help put another team on the UK schedule but so far they have not.

Does Kentucky ever play, USC?? Because if so I want to know. The Buck's have them next year, and the year after. Oh, and that's a OOC game :thumb:

 

Are you serious? That schedule right there has had a national champ on it two years in a row. Both have beaten the tar out of your Buckeyes. That was the worst comment i've seen. Buckeyes would be 6-6 at best in the SEC.:flame:

The 6-6 comment is over the top but you have to admit a 7-2 record in bowls this season and producing back to back national champs (neither of which could escape the SEC schedule unscathed) does show the SEC's strength.

I'm not arguing that whatsoever. The SEC has undoubtedly established themselves as the top football conference. That being said, it gets VERY old when so many people think that there are no teams outside the SEC that could be successful. That idea is simply incorrect.
