Are the players paying for them? I thought the KHSAA has a limit ($300) on what the school or donations can pay for?

 

Well that makes it a little better. Who do I call to get my $300.00 check from?

That was the same complaint towards the 2004 state ring design. However, the 2004 ring had Kentucky's Finest inscribed on it! Oh well, the seniors are excited about it ...afterall its their ring and they earned it! :thumb:

 

Cost: about $350 for silver and a little over $800 for gold. The manufacturer said it is the most expensive highschool ring they have ever made... Merry Christmas fellas...

 

 

Are the kids paying for these? If they are being paid for by the school/boosters, the limit of such a gift is $300.00 according to KHSAA Bylaw 12. I'm all for giving the kids $10,000 rings if possible, but don't get yourselves in trouble. Congratulations on a wonderful accomplishment.

Well the phrase Red Dog dates back to when Coach Red Dog Doughtery(SP) coached at Highlands starting in 1987. It is something that Dale has been hanging on to since coach passed away in 1996. No disrespect intended to such a great man but i highly doubt any of these kids seriously know who he even was. I guess whatever works is fine with me!!!!! These kids have something i will never have, A State Championship!!!!:thumb:

Never heard of any school paying for a kids ring. My understanding is the each parent pays for them...if there kid wants one.

Just received a fax letter showing the design of the 2007 rings being ordered. Nice touch not having Highlands anywhere on them. But whatever, i don't have a kid playing and i'm not paying for it.

I agree with you. If that's want the seniors want, its fine with me...heck its their ring, not mine (or the others questioning the design). Furthermore, they are going to be wearing the rings; I'm quite certain that any one looking at it will be well aware of where the wearer played.

IMO, the design is fine if that's what they want. I can't remember any of the last few rings saying Highlands or Bluebirds on it. The only thing I think they'll regret is if this is gargantuan, which I heard it was.

 

We made the same mistake. When you win you want the biggest, gaudiest thing out there. After wearing it for a little bit you realize that something smaller probably would've suited you better. But, after a while it goes on a shelf where the bigger, the better IMO.

 

In hind sight, there are about a million things I would've done different when I was in school so I have ZERO regrets. Just hope no one's on the receiving end of a haymaker of that thing...

And, don't forget the HHS Defense refer to themselves as "Red Dog Defense".
