Im going to have to agree with UT. T.J. Maynard has been nothing short of amazing since he has came to Raceland. He has turned what was an average defense in the past to one of the top defenses in Class A the past two years. And in 2006 the Rams had were in the top 5 in almost every defensive category in Class A thanks to him. I hope he stays at Raceland but Im sure there are a ton of schools that would love to have him as a head coach. He is one of the best defensive coordinators in high school football right now regardless of school size.

Nobody really is as well known as Coverdale, and for good reason. However, since Dave Schneider has taken over NewCath's offensive play calling and Coach Wagner has taken over the D in 2000, NewCath has been to 5 state championships in 8 seasons. Not bad when you played in the same district as Beechwood during that time.

 

Mex, great point about NCC's asst coaches. I don't mean to be disrespectful to Bob Schneider, but there was a period of time that I was beginning to wonder if the game had passed him by. If nothing else the turning over of the O and D to these two great asst. coaches proves that Bob knows enough about football to recognize great asst coaches and to let them do their thing. A very successful business client once told me that he's not very smart, but he's smart enough to recognize very smart key employees, smart enough to hire them and pay them very well so they stay, and smart enough to stay the heck out of their way and let them do their jobs. Seems like Bob is smart enough to have done the same thing at NCC. Good luck this weekend.

Well since Coverdale is getting so much love, I guess I'll have to nominate Todd Walsh, the defensive coordinator for St. X since he was able to shut the Rocks down in the first round. We'll see how they do on Saturday.

I would agree with that. When Holcomb retires in a couple years, John Paul is in line and has been inline to take the job. He will make a very good head coach. If it wasnt for John Paul, Holcomb doesnt have any state championships.

I think you have to mention Ben Howard at Letcher Central. He is an offensive genuis who gets maximum effort from his players. I believe he will accomplish great things at LCC if the administration is lucky enough to keep him when his dad (HILLARD) decides to hang up the cleats for the final time.

Coach Farris at Corbin has done great job for years.
