Is he the heir to the head coaching throne?

 

From what I've heard, no. He doesn't want the head job. However, you know what they say about sources, "Everyone has one and they all stink."

I know you dont have to be a certified employee to be a head coach, but dont you need a minimum number of college credit hours to be one? I thought I heard this before and that Dave did not have that.

It actually took 30 posts for someone to state the obvious on BGP? One would think there are no Highlands fans on this site without the mention of D coordinator (or assistant head coach, whatever his title actually is:lol:) coach Brian Weinrich. ............Best assistant in the state hands down!

 

I was just as shocked as you reading this and not seeing his name on here yet. He is very intense. I love it!! He may have already had some offers, but why go somewhere and lose, when you can stay here and win? Plus, who knows how long Dale will stick around?

I think the best one that does get near the amount of credit he deserves is Charlie Barr. He has been raising the Birds and does a great job year in and year out for as long as I can remember. It definitely takes a total effort starting in ninth grade to make you the player you are when your a senior. Not to mention Coach Barr does all the scouting on Friday nights! It's his insight that helps the other coaches on the staff get the game plan together! Coach Weinrich is alright, but Coach Barr had a hand in teach him, his trade as well!

I strongly feel that Marty Joyce of Henry Clay is the best offensive line coach in the state of Kentucky. He has had at least one offensive lineman go on to play in college each of his year's at Henry Clay.

 

Marty was coaching at Clark County in 1991, the year the Cardinals defeated St. Xavier and Trinity back-to-back to win the state 4A championship.

I'll take Weinricht at Highlands every day and feel good about the choice. He does a great job.

 

I wondered who their D Coordinator was. He does an outstanding job! There have been some great names mentioned. I don't think people realize the influence Coach Cov has around the United States! I've learned a ton from him and talked to people as far as Texas that learn from him. Coach Morriss,Saylor and Chapman are all great choices too. Those guys do an outstanding job on defense along with whoever the DCoordinator at Belfry is. Mike Engler at Lex Cath has done a great job with the offense there. I think football in our state has grown leaps and bounds. A lot of it is because there are some great minds in the coaching profession that have surrounded themselves with great assistants. I think there is a direct coorlation between the coaching and the thumping up on the Tenn All Stars.

TJ Maynard-Raceland, does a great job with the Rams, previous head coach

Gary Morris- Russell, should be the next head coach whenever Coach McGlone retires

Tony Love- Ashland, great football coach and person

Nate McPeek- Fairview, young but experienced in the game of football saw a world of difference with the Eagles this season

Mex, great point about NCC's asst coaches. I don't mean to be disrespectful to Bob Schneider, but there was a period of time that I was beginning to wonder if the game had passed him by. If nothing else the turning over of the O and D to these two great asst. coaches proves that Bob knows enough about football to recognize great asst coaches and to let them do their thing. A very successful business client once told me that he's not very smart, but he's smart enough to recognize very smart key employees, smart enough to hire them and pay them very well so they stay, and smart enough to stay the heck out of their way and let them do their jobs. Seems like Bob is smart enough to have done the same thing at NCC. Good luck this weekend.

 

I agree with you about Coach Schneider giving up some of the responsibilities during a game, but I think he gets a bad rep. I hear a lot of people talk about how Coach S doesn't do anyhting anymore except add to his win total. I just can't believe that to be true, i bet if people actually say how that team was ran Bob still has a lot of say on what happens with his teams. but like you said he has evolved enough to notice what works now and that says a lot.

 

not saying that you, leatherneck, were accusing Bob of just being a figure head and not having reponsibility anymore, but I've heard it a lot since he gave up some jobs to his assistants

also what about the other asistance for Newcath: Faust and Eviston and Kneflin all great minds
