One thing to think about, Elliott is a good team with alot of talent and hard working kids. now Greenup is young, new coach new system. Now dont forget these teams play every year I would say the coach from Greenup wont forget this one.

Greenup came in running their system which is pressng,runnning & shooting & really never back off themselves! So what was Elliott suppose to do just fall back in a 2-3 & run the Tubby Smith hlf court offense so that Greenup would have a chance to keep it close. I do not think anyone on Greenups sidelines would want that . Give Greenup some credit for running thier system & sticking to for the good of the long run. They just ran into a team who knows how to do it & has experience at it.

Of all you posters on here complaining of this why is there not anyone from Greenup complaining? Simple, those that were there know the facts that I stated in my previous post. How do you complain when you were part of the problem (their style played into Elliotts hands). Greenup kids worked really hard & they play very agggressive so once kids realize the fun playing this type system the upcoming years at Greenup should become much better.

I don't understand why people are so surprised. It was the talk this summer when they were dusted at Fairview by Elliott and others.

I've been told that Greenup unfortunately set the tempo and Elliott just rolled with it. I was also told that Elliott was just that good and did not try to run the score up. This was told to me from my family (Greenup residents). Our musketeers will be fine and wanted to get as much practice at uptempo as they could. Kinda knew that win would be tough to get at this point in the season.

Like the tubby hlf court thing Ha good one:lol:But now I did not take anything from any team, All im saying is these teams play every year and this game will stay in the back of there minds.

They are all "scrimmages" until the post season.

I was talking to a Elliott Co fan if I wanted to talk to a RH fan I would go on A RH thread.:argue:

OY Preps, Obviously you were not at this game. Greenup continued to attempt a press and continued to try and run the ball and quick shoot at every opportunity. Elliott did nothing to "run the score up." They let Greenup dictate the pace during the whole second half. Greenup pretty much determined the score was going to be high. Tehy absolutely and inexplicably pressed and ran the whole game. Very similar to Kansas v. UK in the Petino era when Petino decided to press and run the whole game and Kansas scored 150 points.

Additionally, Timmy Knipp is going to become a big time player if he continues to develop as much as he did this summer.

I was going to ask the same thing. At least then, Elliott could say they have at least one game or more against a top 25 team.

 

I don't know whether you choose not to read other posts or just ignore the facts. Elliott will play 3-4 Top 25 teams this year. There schedule was not as strong last year and yet they made a good run at the State, advancing to the quarterfinals with a very young team. And again, if you had a clue as to how the Greenup game was played, you would know the score was decided by Greenup's choice to speed up the game.

OY Preps, did it occur to you the 2 teams you are speaking of are 4A(the states largest).The reason they play the majority of top 25 teams each & every year is simply because they are in their regions & thats who makes up the base of their schedule just the same as Elliott & other teams have to play the base of people in their districts & regions. Did it occur to you that the big tourneys & other top 25 teams go after these teams because they are the bigger well known schools & will draw at the gate. Did it occur to you that for Elliott to get these type games on their schedule they would first have to prove themselves to others outside the 16th to get these offfers. Therefore at the time when last years schedule was made these tourneys & top 25 teams maybe didn't think Eliiott met that criteria. Obvioulsy this year the thinking is different & the schedule has improved as I imagine it will improve more next year. Did it occur to you that Elliott simply cannot turn its back on the region teams as they do seed in their district which creates at least 6 games they must play in the region. OY preps what does occur to you is you cannot stand the fact that small schools (350) across the state can produce a good team and compete with your (2000) student enrollments & that you cannot stand.

So their team runs up the score and their fans run up the number of posts here on BGP... can't someone get this 16th region bunch under control?

 

I actually think it would be great if the folks in higher populated areas of the state had the passion for high school sports the way the 16th region does. At the Mason Co - Tates Creek game last night the place wasn't half full - and Creek is not a big gym.

 

Agreed. I made this observation after Mason County played at Lafayette last year. I was told that with the exception of say a Scott County-LexCath matchup, many 11th region games - particularly Lexington games - are sparsely attended. Many more Mason County fans in the seats last night than for the home team.
