Great win for the Colonels. This will turn a lot of heads down state. Maile put the team on his shoulders for about a 3 min period in the second half and ignited the team.

Stewart must have had an off night or was in foul trouble. 12 points is not something you expect from your leader and player that puts up the most shots. Cov Cath must have done a very good job of defending this future Air Force player.

I'm not surprised. I called it in the pre-game thread. LexCath still has a lot of improving to do. They have talent, but not any real depth. And they don't have a point guard. They will be a very good team this year, but they have some improving to do. CovCath plays very tough defense and it was a hostile environment.

COVINGTON - The ideal opening night of a basketball season would probably go something like this - a win at the buzzer over the top-ranked team in the state after overcoming a monumental deficit.

 

Covington Catholic failed to live up to that perfect scenario on Saturday.

 

Instead, the Colonels had to settle for knocking off the second-ranked team in the state in Lexington Catholic 60-57on a game-winning shot with 32 seconds left after trailing by as many as 17 points.

BTW a huge tip of Theoldguy's hat to the CovCath Crazies last night. WOW the Crazies were in mid season form. Just wondering what the new cheer (done prior to the 2nd quarter) will be called. Congrats Crazies on an outstanding job last night keep up the good work for the entire season......

Great game to watch and was glad I attended. The atmosphere was fantastic. As was mentioned in an earlier post the CCH student section was in mid-season form and there is no group that does it better then them. Good job Colonels and Coach Listerman.
