Jim Schue Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 I really only started this to take exception to the contention that Williams' shoulder getting stepped on was somehow a "dirty" play. Ask yourself honestly: If you're Timmons, and you see the ball loose on the ground, are you really thinking, "Hey, I'm going to get a cheap shot in and then go after the fumble!" Of course not, and it's ridiculous to suggest otherwise. And to compare it to either the Vick stomp or the Haynesworth one is also ridiculous. Both of these happened after the play, not in the middle, when guys are taught to go full speed until the whistle blows. Williams was just unfortunate, nothing more.
ladiesbballcoach Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Did anyone see the punt that plugged like a golf shot. Football hit on it's end and PLUGGED!!!!!!!!!!! No bounce, no roll, no movement. Plugged.

bigblueinsanity Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Did anyone see the FG that the Steelers kicked in the 3rd or 4th quarter? Reed's kick went WAY WIDE! It was crazy. This game was crazy. The field was in very bad shape. The Fins had there chances to win this game.
cch5432 Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Who said it was a cheap shot? The announcers, I assume. I didn't see anything wrong.

This game was crazy. The field was in very bad shape. The Fins had there chances to win this game. It was the 3rd. To say it was "wide left" is an understatement. It looked like I was trying to kick a field goal! The kicker just shook his head and ran off the field.
gchs_uk9 Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Could someone explain to me why a stadium that is home to an NFL team, an NCAA Division I team and high school state finals, located in a bad-weather region of the country, doesn't have field turf?

Steelers are a blue-collar team and turf isn't blue-collar. Or money. Probably both.
Jim Schue Posted November 27, 2007 Author Posted November 27, 2007 Who said it was a cheap shot? The announcers, I assume. I didn't see anything wrong. That's just it — the announcers (and a limited search of the Internet this morning for stories on it) never said word one to this effect. RP was doing his best Bengal fan impersonation in the other thread by starting the cheap shot song. However, in their defense, the usual suspects among the Bengal faithful didn't chime in, which is to be commended.

The field conditions last night should be an embarrassment to Pittsburgh. I realize the bad weather but that field was like they were playing on a sponge. Chunks of turf were coming up in big sections. Absolute terrible field. I saw a little bit of sportscenter this morning and players from both teams were saying basically the same.
malachicrunch Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Its called Field Turf. Plenty of high schools have it. :fire:
BigColonel Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 I remember a few years back, before PBS went with the field turf, the Bengals being fined, or threatened with a fine because of the condition of the playing surface. Will Pittsburgh be faced with the same consequences because of their lowsy job of keeping the field playable?
STRIKE3 Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 A solid FG, to win the game though. I expected the plant foot, to slip or sink when he went to kick. I watched part of pre-game and it was pouring the rain.
