Brooks to retire?

Featured Replies

I think Brooks will retire again and he might want to go help Louisville get their program back on track, and have Kragthorpe step down. He has really done a great job at Kentucky, but I don't believe he wants to go back to 3-8 football seasons again.

Bobby Petrino could be looking for work soon in the Commonwealth, with the situation in Atlanta!

Bobby Petrino's next employer will be in the south, but not be in the Commonwealth.

Wouldn't it hurt the program to wait and not announce right away???

Unless they're planning on promoting from within??

If this is held off until after the bowl game I am almost certain it will be Joker...

You're so smart. :D

I agree. If he's made the decision to retire and its announced after the bowl game, Joker has to be the man.

I will take Joker. If this is true, thanks for rebuilding the program Rich.

He's losing everything from this team...I would leave if I were him.

First of all he is losing a lot but returns even more and he knows that.(Cats will be bowling again next year) He is not going to retire for another 2-5 years! He is having fun and the kids love him.

I can see Brooks retiring after this season, but I don't think he will. If so, Joker will be the head coach.

Very uniformed post. He's not losing everything. Losses will hurt the most at QB, TE, and WR, but imo, that is about it.

I hope Brooks doesn't have your philosophy...quit when things look a little bleak.

Things don't really look all that bleak. They have a nice RB coming back and some WR's that can play. I'm not sure about a TE. Pulley will be a very athletic QB. Its not as if the cupboard is bare, even though some fans of other local teams would like to believe it is. :sssh:

Locke and Dixon are good RBs but I just went through RBs this past year that are in the small size mold, and like Bama you need someone bigger to get the tough yards.

I agree 100%. My primary concern is WR. Lyons, Jr. should be ok, but look for some JUCO help to add to the mix.

I don't know if Lyons is durable enough to be the lead receiver, but he will be a good one.

It looks like Brooks is staying and Randy Sanders may be the next head coach at Western Carolina.

I will hate to see Sanders leave, but I think pretty much everyone knows he has bigger things to accomplish. I will simply thank him and wish him luck.

I hope May is right and Brooks is staying. While I don't think Rich is a great game day coach, I do like the way he has built the program. He and his staff have a good eye for talent. We have pretty good depth at most positions. We're able to redshirt just about all of our freshmen. The players like playing for him. He runs a clean program. And I don't think Joker is ready to take his place yet.

Yep, Brooks just announced that he is staying in Lexington.
