I hate the college overtime system. Great for the fans, poor for the teams. Fatigue and injury are major factors of concern.

 

I think the NFL system is unfair, but the college sytem is wrong. How about this proposal:

 

Give each team the ball on the fifty yard line and each has only one possession. Each team must go for a two point PAT.

 

If this ends up in a tie, so be it!

You were doing fine until the tie part.

 

I agree with the above, move the ball back to the 40. And 2-point conversion should be mandatory from the start.

 

Either way it still kicks the NFL's butt.

Theoretically, say some week the #1 team in the country ties the #8 team in the country, and the #2 team happens to beat up on some decent unranked team. It's just hard to decide who's number 1. It's not a big deal but an unnecessary annoyance.

 

And I don't like ties anyways.

I wouldn't mind seeing the starting position moved back.

 

What about just playing a 5th timed period though. Put 8 minutes on the clock and play.

Starting it from the 25 makes it too soccer-esque for me.

 

From the 50 would be good, but I'd love to see some element of a clock involved too, whether it be 2 or 3 minutes, you shouldn't get all day.

If I were to tweak it, I would move the ball to the 35 or 40.

The current system is fine and much better than what the NFL does. I hate the NFL setup. Absolutely hate it.

I like the college setup. I wished the high schools used the same setup.

I'd use the NFL format with one change. No field goals.

Seems if there is going to ba a change or two, this incident should be one of them. I also agree to have the teams start from further back. The 40 sounds about right (I think UT scored from there right)? ::snicker::

The unsportsmanlike was a dead ball foul AFTER the OT was over.

 

The facemask was DURING the last play of the OT.

 

Sucked for UT, but it was the correct call both times.

Yea....I can see that...but I don't think the penalty's fit the infractions. Someone getting a neck wrenched and possibly injuried Vs player getting excited and emotional and flinging a ball. Granted, he never should have slung the ball away like that, but I think you see my point.
