I will call the KHSAA on Monday and ask them to cancel the State Finals. That way they can send all 6 titles to NKY. I know there are not enough NKY teams to capture all 6, but since NKY discovered football in this state I guess we owe it to NKY to just hand over the trophies.

I'm saying that 1978 was the last time we didn't have a local team in the finals. Same with 73, 72, and 71.

Who in 1A is going to challenge Beechwood for another title? I think the only team that could is wearing blue and gold and is now in 2A.

 

The remaining 2 teams they still have to play, that's who. I hope they win both games convincingly, but I'm just not so sure it will be as easy as some posters seem to think.

No, I have not seen BHS play. Just going by watching this site all season. Frankfort has been building to this for three years now, that's the experience I am talking about. And yes, this should be one heck of a game. I'm not taking anything away from the Tigers. No one in their right mind would do that. I just see the Panthers being better at this point, especially at home. I am not a fan of either team, by the way.

He's not talking long play off run experience, he's refering to Frankfort's team experience. We are not like Beechwood where we can just reload every year, but every once in awhile you run into a special group of kids. There are 13 seniors that have been together since middle school and several of them are multiple state track champions. I look at every playoff game is just as big as any, you lose you go home. Of course the competition gets better, but the pressure is still the same, you must win to advance. I am looking forward to one heck of a ballgame Friday night.

Comparing Sr classes, BHS's class has been playing together since they were playing peewee ball w/the exception of th QB and he fits very nicely. Throw in the Jr's and this group has been together for a long time also and playing for one reason and we all know what that is. This will be a great game, don't think anyone will be disappointed. Just a shame one team has to lose.

It would be amazing to see a 6A title come to NKY. To my knowledge I don't remember a 6A/4A team from NKY that has won state in that division. Can anyone correct me on that? The closest I saw was in '92 when we won and Boone lost to St. X. Any chance they have that in their mind and are hoping for some revenge? 6A has to be the toughest road to a state title. I am impressed with several 6A schools in NKY. I hope that someday one will be able to challenge the talent in the Ville.

 

As for HHS, this is a very special team. I hope they stay on their toes, if so, no one can touch them.

 

Beechwood's best thing that ever happened to them was NCC moving to 2A. They have a select few that will challenge their immense talent that is jam-packed into such a small school. Very Impressive!

 

NCC- The fact is, they have stumbled a few times this year and managed to pull out wins. I have heard many people say negative comments about the Breds, but you have to look at the fact that even when they don't play their best football, they still win. That is the point. A win is a win, even if done ugly. I think that NewCath, like any other Dynasty teams(HHS, Trinity, Beechwood, X, BG) know when the chips are down and its time to turn it up a notch.

 

Here is something to any of you seniors that may read this. This is your last chance. This could be your last chance to ever play football again in your life. You are going to remember these memories for the rest of your life and even 10, 20, 30 years from now you are still going to be sharing those memories with friends, family, children, etc. Your future is what you make it. Why not have some sweet stories to share. It would feel pretty neat to say you were on a Dynasty team, were part of No 17, Dethroned the No 5 team in the country, Added another trophy into the already full case in Ft Mitchell. Aside from the rings, the huge patch on the jackets, and getting to go to Frankfort and meet the Governor, there is a sense of pride and confidence that will stay with you forever. No matter your role on that team, even if you were a tackling dummy(like I was and we've all been at some point). No one is insignificant in the role they play in achieving victory. No one can ever take that away from you. Good luck boys and we would love to see 4 trophies brought back and are already proud of you for how far you have gotten to represent NKY well.

 

 

When did they stop the bolded practice above? It is a neat idea, in the same token as Super Bowl winners meeting the President. It hasn't happened for Ncc the last two years. Maybe someone else has an idea? However, the Cincinnati Bengals were gracious enough to introduce them in 2005 at a timeout during a game. The Bengals offered again in '06, but scheduling conflicts made it impossible.

 

To stay on topic I'd pick 2. My heart says 3, but there is a lot of football left to be played and numerous things can happen to cause either Ncc, Beechwood, or HHS to lose. Even though it appears they are all favored to win their respective classes, when the teams actually play the game, all of these posts and votes mean squat. Good luck to all teams for making it this far and hopefully there will be four state championship football teams in NKY come Christmas. Impressive considering no teams in 3A or 4A.:dancingpa

I think about 26 years ago if you won a state championship you were awarded a Kentucky Colonel certificate as well. That was a pretty neat thing. I wonder if they still do that?
