To be honest, I don't think it had anything to do with being shell-shocked. Basically, our quarterback can't throw 3? interceptions and us expect to win the game. We had only given up 1 offensive touchdown, then on two consecutive possessions we throw a pic (one for a TD and another set up the touchdown). I really don't think Mayfield's defense played that bad at all. Our offense couldn't sustain a drive in the first half, and basically put too much pressure on our defense. Frankfort played great tonight though. They have some crazy speed.......good luck next week Frankfort.

Congrats Panthers, you fought hard and deserved this win. The team speed is unbelievable, you miss a tackle and its off to the races, lol. Someone needs to tell the refs that when the ball makes it past the 50, its a live ball, I am still waiting on the call on that one!! Thats two weeks in a row Mayfield gets burned on the offsides kick, not that it would have resulted in a score or anything, but I just want a call. Anyways, hats off to Fields, he is the real deal, and the weaver kid, just amazing talent on this team. Mayfield had some good drives and maybe if the mistakes hadn't happened, the game would have been a little more interesting, but I just think that Frankfort was too much for this young cardinal team, good luck against Beechwood next week guys, I think you can do it!!

 

About the stadium, folks weren't kidding about that stadium, it was pretty small to say the least!! It was kinda like what I want to call "backyard football". It was kinda neat in its own way for a football game with the houses in the corners for football lockerrooms. Parking wasn't really bad, we got there like 45 mins before kickoff, it didn't seem like Frankfort brought too many fans and with 10mins, a lot of us Mayfield fans went ahead and sat on the Frankfort side, the fans were very classy and I shook hands with and chatted with a few fans, good people!! Wish you guys the best of luck!!

The call on the on side kick was correct. The ball has to go 10 yards AND hit the ground before the other team can touch the ball. Officials did a good job IMO.

 

Frankfort dominated the game from the beginning and deserved the win. I disagree with the shell shocked comment. These boys have seen plenty of speed before. You can have all of the speed in the world but if you don't have an offensive line you can't do much. Frankfort's line played a great game. On the second TD when the back got around the end the end and corner were both blocked well. Congrats on the win and good luck the rest of the way.

 

BTW I meet some nice fans from Frankfort. They made us welcome and were very friendly. Thanks.

Congrats to Frankfort, in my opiinion Frankfort beat Mayfield in every phase of the game and made the loss a little easier to take knowing a better team is moving on. Frankfort's speed bothered Mayfield and their line play was generally a little better and to be honest they just seemed alot more focused on the job at hand. Mayfield showed little fire in warmups and this carried onto the field where they got off to a bad start and then a combination of factors seemed to come together at once to make sure Mayfield flamed out. The early success of Frankfort and the dire situation of the Cardinals punting game forced Mayfield into having to get away from the things the Cards like to do and out of their comfort zone. Frankfort's speed was best the Cards have seen and really bothered us.

 

This game and the other games involving WKY teams last night seems to drive home the fact the WKY football is down again this year and not as good as CCentral and NKY.

 

Mayfield is young and will be a team that will have to be delt with in the future but this is the present and it is all about Frankfort here, congrat Frankfort and good luck with the Tigers of Beechwood.

 

I want to challenge the fans of Frankfort to go out and watch their team at a magical moment that does not come along very often. I can not even start to tell all of you how disapponting Franfort's crowd was. Mayfield may have managed to bring more people than Frankfort had there.

I could NOT believe Mayfield took more fans 4 hrs to a game than Frankfort had...Very nice fan showing for the Cards!

 

My comments on the game:

 

*Frankfort was better last night, but I don't think they are 3 TD's better...Not having McNutt killed Mayfield to start the game and set the tone for the night. You can't let a team like Frankfort start from their 40 on the first drive, and from Mayfield's 30 on the second drive. Wynstra is going to be a dandy, but it is funny how you really don't think about kickers until you need them badly!

 

*Frankfort is well coached and has some stud players...Fields, #2, and especially #23 were very impressive...Good luck to the team the rest of the way. Mayfield playcalling is still very odd at times and I don't understand how you march straight down the field then get away from what is working and turn the ball over at the 2 yd line for example???:confused:

 

* Frankfort's backs hit the holes as fast as I've seen in a long time. Mayfield's dance and everyone knew the Cards wouldn't be able to run East to West on them, but tried anyway--unsuccessfully! I think Frankfort might have some issues if Beechwood's line can allow their team to run North/South on them!

 

*I can't believe the facilities, I mean Mayfield has some issues, but this place needs some renovations...someone needs to drive a few blocks and see Gov. Beshear and try to pickup a check or grant! The stadium is neat and reminded me of a Wrigley field style football complex. Just needs alot of TLC! The fans were very nice and I saw alot of respect among the players during and after the game!

 

*It has been a pleasure to watch kids like Levi Pruett, Logan Armstrong, Brent Simpkins, Jared McCuiston and the other seniors! They play hard and most have played significant roles for the last 4 years at Mayfield! Good luck to them in the future!

If tonight doesn't solidfy Craig Foley as the AP coach of the year in 2007 nothing does.

 

He is worthy no doubt but I think Haskins at LO will be the winner, he has taken the LO team from worsts to firsts, so to speak and adjusted his offense from run to pass with that Robinson kid

Good win for Frankfort. I think a team effort.. Coaches gameplanned/playcalled nicely and players used their talent and focus to execute.

 

A lot of class shown by Mayfield supporters as well.

 

Fan support at FHS football games has dissapointed all year in my opinion. Don't know what's up exactly. Seems like there is not near as many students at games as in years past.

 

In reference to the facilities, it's obvious that it's not money falling from the tall trees around the Sower Field in Autumn.

Man I can't believe everybody's ragging us out for our classic architecture.
