Its tough for a mountain team to make the trip up there. I had to do it in 1995. We beat them in the Thoroughbred Bowl, but had to make the trip up there for the state semi's and I think the trip made all the difference. That and losing 2 tailbacks. Oh yeah, and Justin Frisk. I can still hear that cannon.

You guys allowed Justin to have his Al Bundy kind of game. 311 yards rushing and 4td's. That pretty much jump start his senior year:ylsuper:

Unfortunately I have to agree...what cannon?!? After moving the thing to the roof top, the fans are less than pleased with the sound. It fires directly over us now...not at us. So much is lost, not a good thing IMO.

Agreed. Much less of an impact than before.

Letcher is a program on the rise and while not ready yet to pull off a win against a team the caliber of Highlands, I think they can be competitive and gain a lot from the experience.

 

I made my first and only trip to Letcher County High last season and was really impressed with their facilities. A stadium carved into the side of the mountain gave it sort of an amphitheater effect. Artificial turf and a Diamond Vision scoreboard complete with instant replay added to the effect. This is not what one would expect to find after driving through the county to get there. I really wish the home teams were reversed, it would have been an eye opening trip for the Highlands folks. A few years down the road may find this to be good rivalry.

Not the same without the rebounding echo from the building. It's always fun to watch the visiting fans in attendance for the first time jump when it goes off for the first time. I’ve been going to the games forever and I still get a kick out of it when they get jump. It's time to move it back down.

Imagine if Perry Central and Hazard ever consolidated. They would take the trip up North a whole lot and I dont think the Bluebirds would look forward to seeing them. Better hope this dont happen any time soon Yankees.
