Belfry is on a mission.

Belfry 30, SC 10.

I hope Belfry wins so Breathitt can come to their home feild and beat them. Belfry wins by whatever they want to win by.

Gettin a little ahead of yourself aren't you?

The last thing Breathitt wants is to go to Belfry, but IMO,that's the way it'll go.

Belfry will have their hands full....Dials is one the best backs they will see all year. He is dangerous. I think BHS will handle him but he is dangerous. He has good size and running ability.

I think Belfry played Sheldon Clark in 2004 also in the 2nd round.

I believe the final was something like 21-0.

Haven't met in a playoff game since 1998, a game that Sheldon Clark won.

Sorry but Belfry crushed Sheldon Clark in the 2005 Playoffs 47-7 after beating them 38-12 in the regular season.

You made point this in the first post....:D

Belfry beat SC on October 19, 07 scoring being 34--7. They held Dials to about 6 yds in the 2nd half, holding him to 126 in the end. You can check the stats but it should be accurate, if its not, its close. Johnson Central was our toughest game and we won 28--12. I do think this game with SC will be closer than the first time though! It could turn out to be the toughest so far, but it wasn't the first time around just a few weeks ago.

The big rumor flying around right now is that Dials has a hurt knee and may not be playing come tomororw evening, I stress the word RUMOR. Prior to the Pike Central game the big buzz of the coal mines in Martin and Johnson County was that Dials had a hurt knee and would not play against Pike Central, that proved false as not only did he play, but he played well.

I expect Dials to be on the field tomorrow night, if he isn't then it could be a long night for the boys from Inez.

PREDICTION TIME!

Before making the prediction, the key things to evaluate is this:

A) Belfry crushed SC just a few weeks ago after pulling away in the second half and completely shutting down the SC offense following a rocky 1st half.

B) Belfry has only lost one district game since 2001.... that loss was last year to SC in game that the Pirates led by 3 TD late in the second half.

C) Dials is the only halfback this year to hang up a 100 yard+ rushing performance on the Pirate starting defense. He gained 125+ against Belfry the first time, but only gained 6 of that after intermission.

D) Trailing by 2 TD in the 3rd Quarter, SC went for it on 4th and a couple in their own territory, Belfry stopped them and proceeded to score quickly thereafter to break the Cards' spirit and put the game out of reach.

So in essence, the big question to answer is this: How Can SC Defeat Belfry?

Here is what I think would doom Belfry and make up a 4 TD difference:

1) Deny The Inside Running Game For 4 Quarters. The Cards did a good job of this for a half, then they wore down. There is no better combo of power backs in the state of Kentucky than what Belfry has, but the Pirates do not posess no track stars that cna burn you on the outside. If Belfry starts churning 3-4 yards a pop up the middle, then the lasting effects become fatal for team's chances of an upset.

2) Don't Ride The Emotion-Coaster- SC came out very fired up in the first meeting and this carried them to an excellent start and trailing only 14-7 at the Half. The problem came when the level headed Pirates continued to play good football, and the lead wasn't shrinking. SC needs to maintain a solid level of emotion/confidence, as soon as their spirit starts to get broken it make a comeback next to impossible.

3. Minimize Mistakes, Maximize Mistakes- I have no fear saying without hesitation that if both teams play their best game possible, Belfry still wins by 3 TD. The Pirates are very skilled and very deep. SC has to hope that Belfry makes the mistakes in this one. With a Haywood coached team, that is easier said than done, so it will become necessary for SC to push the Pirate's limits, whether it be with mixing up defenses and taking some chances to try to create pentration, or offensively taking shots deep on Belfry to test their DB's, which ahs proven to be the only suspect part of the Pirate defense.

4. Don't Overcoach- hager is a fantastic coach, but he reallygot a bit too risky in the first matchup. Trick plays are less likely to work on Belfry than other teams do to their disicpline on defense. It is also imperative to battle Belfry with field position. That way, even if Belfry does score it will result in a fast moving clock which ultimately means fewer posessions and a greater chance for SC to be in the game late. Thus, 4th and Short from your own 40 needs to be a punt, and not the chance for Belfry to gain instant momentum and then hit you with a quick strike.

I see this one being closer (barring Dials is healthy), but I just can't see SC improving enough from 4 weeks ago to make up the 4 TD difference ON THE ROAD.

Belfry 28

SC 14

I don't believe that rumor about Dials for one second.

The Dials rumor might be more than just a rumor. I don't look for him to play tomorrow night.

I officially change my prediction...

Belfry 35

SC 0

I look for SCHS to step up and play really well. It is going to be tough without Dials and Kelly. I think it comes down to the defense which has played great the last 2 weeks and the offensive line which has been hit and miss this year. For the Cards to have any chance they have to tackle well on defense and control the football behind their offensive line. IF THAT HAPPENS this one could still be close. No question this is a great Belfry football team

Believe what ever you want. I spoke with Shawn Hager earlier today. Adam Dials will not play tomorrow. He took an accidental shot to the knee Monday at practice and has been sitting out since. He has attended Physical Therapy and iced it regularly, but today durring pre-game he tried to go on it and couldn't.

This is a big shot to all the Cardinal fans out there.
