IMO Belfry has this game hands down.

I think Belfry played Sheldon Clark in 2004 also in the 2nd round.

I believe the final was something like 21-0.

Pirates better be on upset alert for this one.

Belfry won the first meeting going away, but at the end of the first half the score was 14-7 Belfry. SC has a very nice team and one of the the best players in the state in 3A in Adam Dials. Dials ran for over 100 yards in the first half against Belfry, he also threw a long pass. The story of the last meeting was the Belfry defense in the second half, coupled with an offense that just wore down SC. The Pirate defense allowed only 20 or so odd yards in the second half, and held Dials to 6 rushing yards.

I said this in another thread and will repeat it here, SC would be a state semi-final team if you took them out west and switched them with Paducah Tilghman. The Cards only losses came at the hands of the #1 4A and #1 3A team, they are a very good football team. If Belfry focuses more on the final score of the last meeting and not on how hard the Cardinals played them for the First Half, the Pirates could be watching the playoffs from home. I truly feel, if Belfry comes out focused and doesn't beat themselves with turnovers, penalties, and missed assignments, the Pirates should roll by 4 TD+.

QB Andrew Elkins should be cleared to play this Friday, but it is still to be seen if he will be 100%. It is important to keep in mind that arguably the two biggest upsets Belfry has suffered in the last ten years have both came at the hands of the Cardinals, including the 1998 game which cost the Pirates a shot at Jared Lorenzan and the Highlands Bluebirds. That game was a rematch of a regular season game that the Pirates dominated.

I will make my prediction later this week.

That was the 2003 Regular Season Matchup. That was SC's first year playing in 2A after dropping from 3A, the Cards had Nathan Moore at QB and was a pretty solid team. That was Matney's last year at SC before moving on to Johnson Central. SC even tually would beat up on Whitesburg in the first round before losing on the road to Middlesboro.

Belfry only played SC once in 2004, it was a regular season game that Belfry dominated 47-8 on the road in Shawn hager's first season.

I hope our boys keep their heads on straight or else things could end up ugly.

Belfry will not lose focus and will win. Belfry 18 - Sheldon Clark 6.

Should be a great one. Belfry will win but closer than the first one!!!

Haywood is the difference maker in this contest. The loss last year to SC in the regular season is all this team has to remember. Belfry is focused and operating on all cylinders at this point. Game may go back in forth for a quarter or two...but SC simply lacks the overall talent and depth needed to defeat this Pirate team. Belfry's biggest concern should be penalties and turnovers. Control both and Belfry wins big.

Using stats from last week added in with the stats provided by the News-express from yesterday, here are May and Lee's updated yardage:

May- 118 carries, 1125 yards, 19 TD (9.5 yards per cary, TD every 6.2 carries)

Lee- 80 carries, 1008 yards, 13 TD ( 12.6 yards per carry, TD every 6.1 carries)

Those are some impressive nubers especially considering the depth of Belfry's backfield, that these guys play iron man football, that May has been banged up all season and missed action, and that these guys have RARELY seen carries in the second half all season.

Lee's 12.6 ypc average is unreal for a 100 yard rusher!

IMO Belfry has this game hands down.

Let's hope so, they could be holding their heads in their hands. Let's hope that don't have your zeal about the game.:dancingpa

I hope Belfry wins so Breathitt can come to their home feild and beat them. Belfry wins by whatever they want to win by.
