November 9, 200718 yr Someone needs to ban Patrick Patterson from giving anymore postgame interviews. Here are his comments after the Gardner-Webb debacle: "No one thought much about this team (Gardner-Webb). We were focused on New York and UCONN, Memphis and Oklahoma. We just over-looked this team. We were all looking forward to Madison Square Garden. We all wanted to go to New York. We just over-looked this game because we were so sure we were going to New York." - Patrick Patterson

Perhaps now the players and staff, will never let this occur on Coach G's watch again. I gained more respect for Patterson, if this quote is accurate. Sometimes the best lesson learned, is the one which hurt the most.

Sometimes the best lesson learned, is the one which hurt the most. Its one thing to be honest to yourselves in the lockerroom. Its another to tell the world that you though G-W was cupcake city and you already had your itenary for New York ready to go. I agree that he was just being honest, though.

November 9, 200718 yr There probably isn't a person on this board that didn't feel this way about this team...
November 9, 200718 yr I hate it when athletes realize they screwed up, admit their mistakes, and try to do better. What kind of example is Patterson setting for my children?

I agree that he was just being honest, though. If you polled the UK Team and Staff, they would have all assumed a win over Gardner-Webb....which is what they did, assumed it. A great lesson here for Patterson and crew, is too never underestimate your opponent but more importantly, to always prepare yourself to play each night. Do you think, who ever set-up the Lexington Regional, thought UK wouldn't advance out of it....
November 9, 200718 yr There probably isn't a person on this board that didn't feel this way about this team... Ya but still, I think it's better if Patterson just keeps his mouth shut about it. It would have been different if BCG would have said it
November 9, 200718 yr I think he needs to say what he thinks....And UK didnt care about this game...there minds where in NY
November 9, 200718 yr I agree 'Tusi. How about giving credit where credit is due? How about a little respect for an opponent that handed it to you?

November 9, 200718 yr He was also very complimentary of Gardner Webb after the game and stated how they played the way a good team is suppose to play.

I think you missed the boat on this one. Patterson was being honest and IMO showing that he will learn from this.
