Congrats to McCreary on making their first playoff appearance, and to Bell for advancing to face the winner of Rockcastle/Knox Central. GO BOBCATS!

A Thursday playoff game?

yep gives Bell a chance to scout tomorrow for next week opponent ;) at least that was my thought when I found out this game was on Thursday.

But it also gives alot of other teams a chance to scout you as well playing on an odd day.:D I find it wierd to play a playoff game on Thursday, but Bell has there reasons. Congrats Bobcats on the win.

Congrats on the win..........I'm sure it was packed out and the crowd was fired up for an exciting playoff matchup........Shewww you have to love this playoff system, we will see a lot more of these scores......But congrats to Bell for real and good luck the rest of the way hopefully I will go down to watch Belfry win state and get to see Bell win it while Im there.

There were reasons back in the 90's that Bell also played a infamous game against Highlands on Thanksgiving. The outcome back then was a little different though.:D I still remember the quote from Dudley Hilton at the Outback Bowl a couple years later when Kentucky played Penn State (what are the chances we sit right next to him in Florida), "We Had You"!!!

The final was 72-0 bell. Merrick had a 59 yard field goal attempt blocked right before halftime. I think the thursday game may not be to scout next weeks opponent (Knox Central/Rockcastle)....it may be to look ahead a week to scout Boyle or Lexington Catholic.

Bell will not be really looking past next week, but with enough assistant coaches....I'm sure Bell will have people at the Lex/Boyle game as well as the Rockcastle/Knox Central game. Make good sense to do so with opportunity to check out all possible opponents for the next two potential games.

That was the old " Turkey Bowl" game. What a great Thanksgiving that was .

I loved that game. I didn't have to cook and I got to watch a "real" football game.

With a score of 72-0, did Dudley run the score up? If Highlands did this, Dale would have been a villain for allowing a score like this.

No they did not run up the score!!!! Paper had 3 or 4 freshman scoring and a total of 10 or so players. Bell has enough assistants to scout no matter what night, that was not the point. Bell looked good considering their opponent, talking to a couple of coaches after the game they got the fasest player (87) involved in the offense more b/c of Zachery playing QB. Offensively they looked sharp. Good to be back at Bell for the first time since 06.

Bell was at one time on a pace to score over 175 points for the game..if they had kept on the pace that they were in the first half of the first quarter! Bell's defense scored or set up some of the scores. Remember the back-up QB started and the JV and Freshman teams with a few players still in early played most of the second half. Was running clock and over in a flash. Bell took a knee and set up FG attempt in first half for Merrick to break the state record. He had nearly broke it at Leslie, but caught dirt on his approach. The kick was solid and hit well this time....??? but a rare block ended the half. Even in the cold, he had hit two 57 yarders in warmup with snap/hold. Earlier in game he had one around 40 yards that was good. Bell was fine tuning all aspects of their game last night, especially if Nelson is not able to go for the rest of the playoffs. It is easy to look good against a weaker opponent, but I don't believe there was any turnovers, etc. Not bad, with losing your starting QB. Other teams have cratered this season when placed in same scenario. :thumb: to Zachary for stepping up!

When Bell plays teams like McCreary Central they can win by as many as they want. I'm sure the freshmen were pretty much able to do whatever they wanted to last night. You can't just take a knee every play.
