Sorry, I don't uderstand how the way the offense is run, allows turnovers to happen frequently.

 

When Mercer goes to the shotgun which is quite often, they rely on precision snapping to execute a perfectly timed snap in order to fake the jet, then the QB always spins around which makes no sense, he is an amazing athlete and should just go forward, but those snaps out of the gun are a little reckless and the QB is having to time everything perfect, JMO.

I've noticed that all throughout the season with your post regarding Mercer County and the continuance to bring up that they only lose by a mere few points each time they lose. I was just making an observation that I noticed in several games from the Titans. I know exactly what they purpose of the offense is and the SPIN, I just don't agree with it and feel that it limits the athletic ability of a great speedster QB. It was a compliment to his abilities, nothing more. I don't want to get into a comparision between which timing play in football has to be more exact because I agree they all do. Like I said before I feel the wishbone is their best offense and if they practiced it more than the unusual spin gun then they may commit fewer TO's possibly. I know who runs the jet sweep no need to lecture, I think it may be one of the worst plays invented in football. JMO again, no need to defend it.

I'm a Titans fan! I love the game of football and I also enjoy being able to get on here and put in my two cents worth (and it ain't even worth 2 cents :laugh:). I'm not getting defensive. You state your opinion. I state mine. Why some feel that I get defensive, I have no idea. As far as me getting on here and talking about Mercer's games, in the case of losses, I only get on here and talk about what happened and how the game went when OTHERS have questions about "what happened"....I tell. The only thing that I MIGHT even get defensive about are when people make comments and they aren't around, or even experienced something and they don't know first hand, that's what eats me...for example, your comment about the wishbone, "if they practiced it more". Well, how do you know that they don't?!

 

 

I mean, I'm not going to get on here and give my opinion about what Rockcastle County, Boyle County, South Laurel, etc. should work on more in practice, when in all reality, I've never been to one of their practices to actually know that that do or don't?!?

Then you shouldn't give your opinion if you don't want someone to counter it, and others shoudn't take it as another being defensive when they counter an opinion, either. There's bigger fish to fry out in this world to get all wound up over a message board.......if my posts sound like that, then, well..I don't know. All this... mix it up, and you get a little tension and stress here in Titantown.

 

I still think we can beat Lincoln Friday night, but it'll have to be one heck of an effort with no TOs, mental mistakes, etc. to do it. GO TITANS!

The wishbone is their best bet. Play good defense and play simple football. The offense with the gun is not the best for this team. Looks fancy but not their style.

The playoffs are a new season, whether you are a #1 seed or a #4 seed in a very balanced class, Class 5A in particular, I'd rather be peaking towards the end, than in the beginning. Just ask South Laurel. IMO, this Mercer team the last half of the season, is a complete 180 degrees from the first part (I realize other teams probably are too, that's what makes the playoffs so fun).

 

Here's a few true life seasons over the last 10 years. Last year, Lafayette goes 10-0 in the regular season, loses in the 1st round. NewCath goes 5-5, wins the state championship. In 1997, Boyle County was 9-1 in the regular season, #1 seed in the district...Bourbon County finishes as the #4 in the same district and wins the state championship. In 1999, Harrodsburg is the #1 seed, gets beat in the 2nd round by Danville, whom H'burg had beaten in the regular season.., Somerset was the #4 in that same district....Somerset goes onto the state-semis. Looking back, do you think Lafayette, Boyle County and Harrodsburg would have loved to have traded in their regular season success??? I guarantee it...just some trivia for ya! :thumb:

I think Mercer surprises some people in the playoffs.

Mercer Co last year in the playoffs=3A playing in 2A=a state championship.

 

Mercer Co this year=5A team playing a 5A team=First round loss for the Titans. BYE-BYE

Actually Boyle was 10-0 and ranked #1 in the state in AA. :thumb:

 

Bourbon County finished the #3 seed that year. Bourbon, Boyle, Danville and Lex Cath all put it each other out in the playoffs as Bourbon went on to win the state.

Lincoln Co. is playing good football right now, maybe great, with only a 2 point loss to Scott County keeping them from being perfect in Sept. and Oct. That being said, I think this is by far the best 1 / 4 match-up in 5A this weekend. I like Lincoln Co. to win (and go deep in the playoffs), but this one will be close.
