Faulkner is the better ball handler, Ferguson the better scorer. Both are great players but I would have to favor Ferguson due to his leaping ability and size.

Theres the Top 8. A lot of people could fill the last 2. I think Chad is the #1 player. Ive watched him play and hes got the entire package. Hes #1 in my book. Very arguable with Euton his teamate, and Fergason, and even Matt Thomas.

"IF" there is this much talent in our region alone based on what people have posted on here, then I would hope one of our teams will make it pass the 1st or 2nd round in the state tournament. If we don't have a team make it past the 1st round in the next couple of years, then one would have to question our assessment of talent and wonder if we ever venture outside the 16th region to see other talented kids and teams.

 

I do not question the loyalty of the poster's from this region to their teams, I do however question the judgement of talent. The term "D1" gets thrown around too often in our region, when in reality these kids often end up at NAIA schools or DII or DIII schools. There are some good players in our region this year, no doubt! Fortunately for some schools, they have more than 1 top player in the region playing on their team (Elliot, Rose Hill, etc..) Therefore we need to examine whether or not we are looking at the best player from each team, the player that's most valuable to their team, or are we looking at the most talented players in the region. If it's the later, then hands down it's Euton and Jackson, 1 and 2. Euton has a scholarship offer already from UK. Jackson is ranked nationally in his class. Positions 3-10 can be argued either way.

You are throwing darts to say where all of the above mentioned will be. There is nothing set in stone about any of these kid's. You don't have a scholarship until you ink the dotted line. I dont know much about Thomas because I dont have any contact but I do know about the other five, and they are all being recruited by D1 schools of some level!! Evan Faulkner is being recruited by Gardner-Webb whom upset UK last night not saying hes for sure got a scholly but they are interested and who knows! I hope and pray they give him one and that all the above gets one somewhere. I used Evan because he is almost always left out in the rankings but is right there with the rest of these guys IMO. Jonathan is recieving letters from 44 D1s right now and phone calls with emails from about 11. Hope and pray he gets one two. Ethan is also recieving lots of attention I dont know all of them but i know he is. Everybody knows about Euton and Jacksons recruitment because its publicized. Thomas aau coach said hes getting d1 attention so there you have it. As for whom is the best player I guess that would depend on the type of player you like or were needing or looking for. They are all good and all have something special they can do. Jonathan is #1 IMO. I'm sure Ethan and Evan is #1 in Mr/Mrs Faulkners OP

 

I am satisfied Dakotah is #1 in Mr/Mrs Euton's OP. Certain Chad is #1 in Mr/MrsJacksons OP. I'm sure Matt is #1 in Mr/Mrs Thomas OP. The several promising young players are quite possibly #1 in their parents opinion. Beyond those OPINION'S it really doesn't matter what anyone thinks other than the recruiter's! I don't know whether they are the Top players but I know the Elliott Co boys have accomplished more than anybody else AT THIS POINT IN TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I tend to agree with about everyone's top 5 in some order, but I think Timmy Knipp is getting overlooked. I rarely say that any player is a D1 talent but he is the real deal. He has added wight and strength over the summer and can score from about anywhere. His ballhandling has improved greatly and he is becoming an excellent passer. His improvement is a big reason that Elliott is stronger this year. They really lacked size last year and his development has allowed Ferguson to play more on the wing and avoid foul trouble.

3high, Where were you in March 07' Elliott did make it past the 1st round of the State Tourney!

Ferguson Still plays more inside than anyone. I can't really remember him having much trouble with fouls other than when he gets "hammered" it is rarely called. You are right Timmy has improved alot!!

I agree he spends too much time inside and he draws a ton of foouls, many of which go uncalled. He gets more done inside than anyone I can recall for his isze. Knipp is much weaker than Ferguson, but his size is still an improvement over Elliott's inside game last year. Morgan plays hardbut is not near the presence inside offensively or defensively as either Knipp of Ferguson. Four of Elliott's starters are good rebounders and quick to the ball which really helps offset the size difference the face against good teams.

Elliott may have the best rebounding gaurds in the state especially in the Faulkner twins. They get them on both sides of the ball against much bigger competition. They always have good position & the ability to put it back in the hole or draw the foul against the bigger opponent, most of the time it seems it is an "and 1". They seem to really enjoy this part of the game.

I don't really think Timmy is weak they all play a lot of guard and everyone in their offense ends up inside and out. Ferg just seems to flash into the paint a little more than most.

Take away Ferguson and they don't get there.

You could sit Ferg out of the finals in the 16th regional tourament and they would still win it by about 15 points. EC is that much better than anyone in the regiion. But if you don't have anyone that can get the ball past half court when the press is on you can't score. I think John is a great player, no doubt but I don't think he is the best player in the region, he's not even the best player on that team. He may be the best scorer but not the best player

They will need the important contributions off all of the top 7 players to reach their goals this year.
