True. ARod has got both teams to the playoffs, he just couldn't help during.

 

The Cubs are the top runners right now. With Piniella as their manager and the bond that those two have. ARod would do well there. Maybe not in the playoffs, but during the season. And with that's the way the Cubs are anyway, they'd be a perfect fit.

I agree and I've always liked A-Rod, up until now. It's obvious the money, is his over-riding factor in life and I'm not talking about leaving the Yankees, but the absurd, ridiculous and bad for baseball salary demands. I wouldn't pay $30mil, for an Island of 50 women, who worshiped me well maybe, much less for a MLB player.

 

Salaries like his, are ruining the game and affecting the fans. His play on the field is outstanding but his bargaining/demands off the field, is embarrassing.

 

If the Reds spend $30 mil, it better be spent on starting pitching.

You and I have this discussion before and we obviously disagree. YOU and I have the ability to put an end to this. We choose not to because we love watching ARod type players. Therefore, the TV contract allows some teams to pay these types of salaries.

A-Rod may demand more money than anyone in baseball, and may stink when it counts, but I am not sure that puts him the category as "not a team player."

 

I am not an A-Rod apologists by any stretch of the means, but if you are able to demand these massive contracts and make all sorts of money, what should he do that would make him a "team player"?

Glamour, speed, HRs, marketing, looks, etc. sell.

 

Middle relief, utility players, etc. do not.

We all the time here the term "Market Allows/Demands" but what that really means is what the Player/Agent are demanding. Owners agree to these exorbitant salaries, to only trade long before having to part ways with them. The Rangers, were stupid enough to start the feeding frenzy and even helped the Yankees, pick up some of the tab.

 

There is equal blame to share, starts with the Player/Agent, then the Owner and then passed on down to the fans, in the means of Ticket prices, merchandise and related expenses.

 

Keep in mind, just because I can afford a Hummer H2, doesn't mean it's worth the ticket price....:thumb:

I would think that they would simply stop paying it, he's the one that chose to void the rest of the contract. Any money that has already been deferred (if any) would still have to be paid.

 

On a side note, that was just GREAT timing by Boras. He's got until 10 days AFTER the World Series to decide what to do and instead chooses to announce it before game 4. That should tell teams what they are getting into with Mr. Boras and A-Rod. They're just first class all the way--first class what I can't say.......

I totally agree, how can he say he wants to win a championship when he is leaving an organization that will always give their team a chance at going to the World Series.
