nees1212 Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Per ESPN bottomline. The Yanks said they will not pursue him. I thought they were offering him around $27 million per year for 4 years? I guess they changed their minds.
cshs81 Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 I thought they were offering him around $27 million per year for 4 years? I guess they changed their minds. I saw they offered a 5/$150M contract.
youknowme Posted October 29, 2007 Author Posted October 29, 2007 Agent: A-Rod opts out of contract with Yankees http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3084583 DENVER -- Alex Rodriguez opted out of his $252 million, 10-year contract with the New York Yankees on Sunday in what appears to be the end of his career with New York. Agent Scott Boras said in an e-mail to The Associated Press that Rodriguez had made the decision. On Saturday, the Yankees asked to meet with the third baseman and league sources told ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney that the team was prepared to make him an offer that would have exceeded, in average salary, the $27 million per year that he was scheduled to make over the next three seasons -- and A-Rod would have be in line to set yet another salary benchmark. The offer would have been for something in the range of five years -- beyond the three years Rodriguez is already under contract for, from 2008-10 -- and perhaps $30 million a year. The highest per-workday salary earned to date is the $28 million Roger Clemens received, in prorated salary, for a little less than four months of work this season.
cshs81 Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Do you think the Reds.....oh, never mind. Big Bob said he was going to raise payroll.
The Scribe Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 I guess that's why they delayed naming a manager until Monday. Word has it Girardi has now backed out of taking the job.
spindoc Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Big Bob said he was going to raise payroll. He meant his personal payroll!
The Scribe Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Strike3's head will explode if they spend $30 a year on a free agent that's not a starting pitcher
BigBlueFreak Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 The Giants have to replace Bonds with someone, so who better to replace him with than the man that is going to break his record.
gametime Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Strike3's head will explode if they spend $30 a year on a free agent that's not a starting pitcher  :laugh:
Sportz Addict Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Good for him... Yankees treated him like crap a year ago. Don't know if its good for baseball a guy making 30 million a year.
