It isn't like Scott won't be in anyone's top five ... but without Mackey, it's hard to put the Cardinals at #1.

 

Or do you expect Mackey to be back?

I think right now its hard to really tell who deserves to be the best team, because we haven't seen how players have grown and worked to get better yet.

I think if we are looking at the best preseason team Mason County will probably have the top spot, but in the long run the preseason ranking is the most worthless. If you look at the top three Mason, Catholic, and Scott County and then look over the past 10 plus years of POST season play Scott County should start the year at #1 because they have the best chances (according to previous records) at being the only team in the state to finish with a W. I'll take Mason at Preseason #1 any day, you can take that ranking and a quarter and go down to the local 7-11 and buy a pop with it! You have to actually win your Region to have a chance at being postseason #1.

You can take Mason County, Lexington Catholic and Scott County and make a case for any of them being #1. When Mason played at Scott County last year, Mackey had an off night by his standards, but there was enough talent to step up and win the game for the Cardinals. Catholic and Mason split their two games. All three teams have a lot coming back, but Mason County did lose two starters and their 6th and 7th man from last year's team.

 

Preseason rankings are nice, but I'm more interested in March rankings. And it's 100% certain that one of these three teams won't see Rupp Arena.

Well whoever said Scott County didnt coast last year is 100% wrong. The only game last year that was a struggle was the state championship game. Personally I think Lex Cath should be number 1. Mason County might as well change their name to the Darius Miller all-stars. I still dont think Mason County has a good TEAM which is why they got beat by a mediocore at best GRC team. And the team that is getting no respect that i might even say is my favorite to win it is UHA. UHA has the tools if hopson and his coach can suck it up and get on the same page the state better watch out.

I speak for the Mason County game i watched Scott County play and they only beat the royals by 4 or 5 points and it was at Scott County.They won yes,But they certainly didnt cruise it was a great game.

If Mason didnt have a bad first quarter they would have won the game. The Royals still had the game close till the end.

Catsrule may have been going by Scott County's game against GRC. That was one of those games when SC was clicking on all cylindars and nothing could go wrong. They had GRC by about 55 before GRC cut it to 45 late in the game.

Mason. Lex Cath. Scott.

I think about everyone can agree on those three.

Is there not a dominant team coming out of Louisville this year? J-town? Ballard? Male?
