October 25, 200718 yr Robert DeNiro is a fine actor but he's had a bad habit of accepting ANY role offered to him the last 15 years or so. He can't make this list with movies like: Analyze That, The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle, The Fan and Angel Heart. Jack Nicholson gets disqualified for Wolf and Man Trouble. James Earl Jones would just as soon forget Alan Quartermain and the Lost City of Gold, Soul Man, The Meteor Man and The Best of the Best. Al Pacino is out because of Gigli, Two for the Money, Simone, The Devil's Advocate and Dick Tracy. Robin Williams has been very bad several times: Bicentennial Man, Flubber, Death to Smoochy (he was even nominated for a Razzie for Smoochy and Bicentennial), and Jumanji. All of the above actors have had great performances and certainly are great a lot of the time. But in the case of Pacino, Nicholson and Williams they are prone to overacting while Jones and DeNiro seem to be willing to act in anything to cash a check. Morgan Freeman also seems to be willing to do anything for a check. If you don't believe me just watch "The Contract". I thought with Cusack and freeman it would be good...it was not.

So much hard work to be so horrifically wrong!:eek: Most of the movies you mention were, in reality, quite good and quite successful. But every actor that can possibly be named has a film or two that was less than the best. However, this thread was actually focusing on the actor...NOT the movie.

He was fairly typecast for a while it seemed like, but I am looking for something a little different out of his role in "I am Legend". I mean, he'll be an action hero which won't be much of a change, but he'll be an emotionally and psychologically drained and very on-edge action hero, or so the previews tell me. Two actors that are more famous for their modeling it seems than their acting which I really enjoy are Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp. Interview With the Vampire, Fight Club, Snatch, etc... very good performances from Pitt IMO. And just watch Ed Wood followed by Edward Scissorhands followed by the Pirate movies and tell me that Depp isn't a well-ranged actor.
October 25, 200718 yr Oh yeah, and the screen is never worth turning from if Samuel L. Jackson is on it, screaming some curses. It doesn't necessarily take talent, but let's face it, Sam Jackson is the man. And I'll go ahead and discuss one more to make it 5: Clare Danes is going to marry me some day. There's nothing much else to say about that.
