October 24, 200718 yr How many games will pass before Paul Pierce goes into a snit about KG and Ray Ray taking too many shots?
October 24, 200718 yr The Cavs played some of the best team defense in the NBA and rebounded great. How else do you think they were successful? Lebron... Who on their team stands out as a stud defender?
October 24, 200718 yr The East is terrible so they have a great chance of getting to the finals where they will be rolled on by a Western conference team.
October 24, 200718 yr The East is terrible so they have a great chance of getting to the finals where they will be rolled on by a Western conference team. That sums it up, you can win 50-60 games in the East and then look like a Community College basketball team when facing the West in the Finals.
October 24, 200718 yr The East is terrible so they have a great chance of getting to the finals where they will be rolled on by a Western conference team. True. But this is Ray Allen, KG, and Paul Pierce. That's around what, 50-55 points a game? Not counting the assists and other things they do. Not saying they would beat a good western confrence team but this years Celtics should have a good shot at the title. I would love a Suns-Celtics finals matchup.
October 24, 200718 yr Are we going to have to go over this again the Suns are never going to win the Finals or make it for that matter. Cavs were real good in the East last year and then got smacked in the Finals. They would have been a 4-6 seed in the West.
October 24, 200718 yr My post on July 31 (and I still don't think they'll win 50 games this year): I certainly think they could have 2 or 3 good years (45-49 wins) before anything drops off dramatically, but that roster now has ZERO depth, so you better hope they avoid any type of nagging injuries. You are talking about Rondo, those three, and a guy coming off of knee surgery. No bench to be heard of. To me they are paper thin, and over 82 games, that is no good. I think scoffing at this group's lack of playoff success is a bit short-sighted. This is the NBA, teams don't need a ton of quality to make runs (see Toronto a couple of years ago) (Iverson's Sixers certainly weren't loaded with stars), and goodness knows the T-Wolves had quite a few teams with three really nice pieces (Sam, Latrell, Wally, etc.). Maybe they all of a sudden are able to man-up and go deep...maybe not. I think C's had to try something, and getting maybe the most versatile player of his generation can't be a bad thing. I'm simply saying that the expectations (IMHO) are unrealistic.
October 24, 200718 yr I think a lot depends on how well they all mesh together. They are a very talented group, but they have to be able to play together and produce. I remember when Drexler, Barkley, and Olijawon all got on the same team late in their careers and they just didn't seem to all play well together. That being said, I believe Rondo will excell there with this group and they have a couple serviceable big men. And the play in the week eastern conference so I look for them to have a great run this year.
October 24, 200718 yr Lebron... Who on their team stands out as a stud defender? They don't need 1 stud defender. They played great team defense and rebound great as a team. That's their coaches philosiphy.
October 24, 200718 yr First of all they will need to learn how to play together. If they do they can get to the finals.
October 24, 200718 yr Rondo will be part of the problem with this team. Other teams can double off of him (since his outside shooting is horrible)to Garnett low or Pierce on the drive. That allows them to stay with Allen. And as when Garnett or Pierce passes out of the double-team, they don't have to worry about rotating quickly to Rondo as he cannot consistently hurt them with an outside shot. He tries to drive and they are already in the lane from where they were double teaming. Now if the other post player can just hammer the boards (not sure I see that on the roster) than it becomes difficult for them to double team off of him and leave that player to hammer the boards.
