October 23, 200718 yr During the week of October 22-26, participating students and faculty at over 110 colleges and universities throughout America will wear empty holsters on campus, in protest of state laws and school policies that stack the odds in favor of armed killers by disarming law abiding citizens licensed to carry concealed handguns virtually everywhere else (movie theaters, office buildings, shopping malls, etc). The symbolic point of the Empty Holster Protest is to represent that students, faculty, and guests on college campuses are left defenseless (with nothing but empty holsters) by state laws and school policies that refuse to afford concealed handgun license holders the same rights on college campuses that they are afforded virtually everywhere else. October 23, 200718 yr I like it. This is a good, peaceful protest. The symbolism is very good. I think the gun on campus issue presents stickier problems than just this protest can represent, but the fact remains that students are prohibited from defending themselves with weapons when other segments of the populace are not. Given the size of many universities, there is some inequity.

On a serious note, it might very well limit the amount of "others" that are slaughtered. Presently, if a person wants to bring a gun on campus, everything works in his favor for bad things to happen and very little works in our favor of preventing it. And that is sad that the children attending school cannot be protected better.
October 23, 200718 yr If these people have conceal-carry permits off campus, why are we worried about not letting them on campus? If someone wants to commit a crime, a permit is not going to stop them. Point being, if they're going to commit a crime with a gun, they're going to commit a crime with a gun.
October 23, 200718 yr Guns are the way I feel about locks , is some one is going to get in your building they are going to get in there and besides I don't keep anything in my out building that I would not give someone. IF someone wants to hurt others they will one way or another. IMO
