The gun advocates keep wanting to bring up the isolated "insane mass murderer" scenario. That isn't the guy we're talking about, and that is not the greatest danger to the general public.

 

Just giving up to a culture of violence is absolutley ridiculous. Why should we say, "Oh well, somebody had a gun once, so let's have as many guns as possible."? Why give in to that backward and defeatest mentality? There are some places that just should not be turned into The Wild West.

The right to keep and bear arms was written into the constitution to assure the citizen's safety..not from each other..but from government oppression. Which is the REASON we exist as a nation and not a British republic. In my oppinion,the empty holster is the saddest symbol of all..that of obescience to a PC society that has forgotten one of the reasons we exist in the first place.

I feel safe for 16 hours out of every day...the 16 that I am not at work,where our policy is that we cannot be armed....in E. Ky...in a pharmacy. Do I feel safe at work? NO. Because for 8 hours out of the day I have a target on my back. I have owned a firearm since I was 18 (I am now 49),and have NEVER been in the position to have to use it. Would I use it to protect my home and my kids...you better believe it. But at work I am at the mercy of any deranged drug addict that walks in with a firearm demanding that I empty the safe...and just HOW rational do you think these people are? I'll be glad to join the protest at work. Anytime.

The stories you don't see are the stories of altercations turned into murders. You don't see the stories because the prohibition of guns has kept them from happening.

There are already thousands of Kentuckians with Concealed Carry Permits exercising their right to carry their firearms out in public. I am not the least bit afraid of this and if anything I feel slightly safer because of this. I have no problems with a licensed concealed carrier carrying guns on campus...

And how many stories have we seen of them snapping in an emotional argument and shooting someone as some on here are scared about?

I will just discontinue the argument. I will continue to carry as I please and in the event that you are ever in a situation that would warrant protection, I hope for your sake that there is someone close to you doing the same!

Let me put that in a different light. Crimes thwarted by guns are MUCH greater than those committed with guns by people carrying them legally in the heat of passion. I just don't understand how anyone can argue otherwise.

No way. I'd say the ratio has to be about a million to one in favor of the crimes. And that's being generous.
