According to Fox Sports Joe Torre turns down a one year $5 million deal with the Yankees.

Until spring training actually starts, with Torre at the helm, anything is possible. I'll be curious to see, once a decision is finalized, how quick some players make their decisions.

CBS Sportsline is reporting that Torre is gone. One reason being the paycut that he would have to take. 5 million for 1 year. I'd take it.

They did good getting where they are, but lately they've been wrong on a lot of things.

 

They were dead wrong on Eli Manning's injury, yet they stuck to their guns and said he was out a month. They said "the Giants report that he is day to day" but that their "sources" said he was out 1 month. How many games did he miss? 0. They were too proud or stubborn to admit they were wrong.

 

Then they said Alex Smith was out for the season. Wrong again. He is playing this sunday.

 

Then they said Torre would re-sign. Wrong again.

I like how the Yanks released all the info on what he turned down. It makes them look less like the bad guy. How many coaches make 5 mil a year right now?

 

I really liked Joe, but sometimes its time to move on.

Joe Torre was a great man and a great Manager! I disliked the Yankees but he was a good guy!
