IU knew what they were getting when they hired Sampson. I bet ol' Bob Knight is chuckling.

Can't wait to see the signs in the student sections at IU away games.

One thing though, as mentioned in the article, IU loved Knight when they were winning...only after they started losing did they turn.

Sampson sort of turned them around last year...

Had always been rumblings of things that Sampson did while at OK.

Kravitz is for tossing out the AD as well. It was a curious hire so to speak, considering the clouds over his head.

NCAA on Sampson at OU...."fostered an environment of noncompliance".

Yikes.

What was IU thinking in hiring this clown?

:thumb: Some of the opinions in this thread are hysterical. Let's not get ridiculous here boys, these are still secondary violations.

Not condoning it, but seriously. A Clown, a low life...

At what cost?

To quote Bob Kravitz: "...As for the local reaction, I fully expect the Hoosiers hardcore fans will go into justification mode."

IU has always prided itself on integrity.

They then hire a guy who has a history of cheating and then "accidentally" does the same thing right after IU hires him.

So IU either has the integrity that its always had or they don't by keeping a coach who obviously has a problem following rules. It can't be both.

Understood, but how he procured those verbals is definitely open for question now.

He is a cheater, he vowed not to do the same thing at IU that he got busted for at Oklahoma, but within roughly a year he has already broken his vow.

Your right, I am making a clown look bad.

Simply...a cheater.

Secondary violation, yes, but still it is a violation that he vowed he would not repeat at IU that he did at Oklahoma. In roughly a year, he has cost himself 500K and his team one scholarship.

You're right, that one player for one year will just go to someone next year.

I think they'll survive.

98, so you dont see a problem in the fact that he not only broke rules, but he lied to IU and its fans?

I , of course, see a problem with it. Just think it's funny that people are villifying him over secondary violations, that are called secondary for a reason.

I would be willing to bet you a whole lot of money, aside from one or two that are on here calling him ridiculous names know none of the facts of these instances.

UNLIKE MANY people on this site though, im honest and for these minor things, they really don't bother me. If he continues to bring in Top 5 recruiting classes and we get a few Big 10 Championships and some deep runs in the tourney, I'm good.
