While it doesn't change your point, I do believe they finally hit 500 boys last year.

If they had 1500, they would be a big 6A team not a 4A team playing 5A.

If Cov Cath only has 500 kids in the school then how are they a 4A school?

All boys--Equates to 1000 co-ed!!

Does anyone ever get out of NKY to watch any other games? I don't think the 1A district is stronger this yr, IMO, the teams are ranked higher due to the better 1A teams have moved up in class which weakens 1A overall. W/Beechwood and NCC in the same district, that's a strong district as they both were ranked top 5 for the past several yrs, usually 1,2 or 3.

Bellevue will have to play flawless to beat Beechwood even if they are playing a little short handed from what is being told.

I do agree that the district "appears" to be stronger this year when in reality it is due to the move to 6 classes. A team can be ranked in the Top 10 in any class and really only be in the top third of their class. when there are only 33-36 teams in a class being #10 is not the same as when there were 52-54 teams in a class.

If you doubt that go back to 2000 or 2005 when Beechwood, NCC, and Bellevue all had very good teams. Pretend NCC (and HC) were in 2A and out of that mix and you still had some very good teams left in district. However, the district overall now is not as strong as it was when NCC and HC were in with Dayton, Bellevue, Ludlow.

Good points but ones that can be made about most districts and all classes' rankings!!

You could add 2003, 2004 and 2006 in their as well. Because in 2003 you had Holy Cross which was one of the top Class A teams that year, and in 2004 Ludlow was also getting some love in the Top 10. Then of coarse last year Holy Cross was probably a top 5 team to go along with NCC and Beechwood which were top 5 every year...

No one has said that the 1A district is stronger this year than other years. What people have been saying that the 1A district in NKY is the strongest 1A district in the state. But that is nothing new because the 1A district in NKY has been one of the toughest every year, before the change to 6 classes..

That's why I said in any class.

Top 10 in any class with 6 classes is not as strong as Top 10 with 4 classes.

And if we ever went back to 3 classes those Top 10 would be stronger than the 4 class ones.

How can you say Bellevue is overrated at all. They have won every game they were suppose and lost everyone they were picked to lose with the exception of newport and ludlow who they were suppose to lose to, but upset them both. So I see no case of being overrated sorry.... :flame:

Bellevue was ranked in top ten at that time of the ludlow game. Ludlow was not. Therefore i think that means bellevue was the favorite in that one. Just to clear that up.

Respectfully disagree. Not to rock the boat or anything but I think that Holy Cross was overrated the whole season after that win that NC fumbled away to them 5 or 6 times...

on this game... I think the Beechies roll...

With every drop of rain on the field the Black and Gold Tigers winning chances are getting better!

I dont think so. If Beechwood were a speed team or a spread team then maybe. Bellevue will have to be at their best to beat a very big Beechwood team.

How does a soggy field hurt a team that averages about 280 across the front lines, and basically plays "grind it out/smashmouth" football??

If Bellevue is suppose to be so quick and fast and Beechwood is suppose to be so big and slow, how does the wet field give the quick/fast team the adv? It may hurt Beechwood throwing the ball but not Bellevue(they can't from what the Bellevue faithful say) and if it comes down to a grind it out running game, well, you figure out the rest.

Whether Bellevue was in the top ten or not everyone around picked them so you really didn't clear anything up.. Also with the rain it will help Bellevue considering it will slow down Elliot and Teipel..

Yeah but then that just makes Beechwood's massive line become more dominant and Bankamper (sp?) as well... Rain does tend to level the playing field some, but when the gap is this large I really don't think a monsoon would help.
