St. X Ranked #3 in the Country

Featured Replies

Why do we pick out certain conditions? Did St X have a losing record against Flaget last century because their offensive scheme didn't work with the advancement of the facemask?

How else should we look at head to head besides OVERALL-Not games played this century with rainy weather and Trinity as a visitor in even numbered years?

You know what, you're right. let's compare how well your coach has done against Trinity, and how well OUR coach as done against X. That should give a fair read on the state of the rivalry.

A fair read on the rivalry would be the records since the current Seniors were freshmen. That would put X up 3-2, with one of T's wins being a rain shortened victory (although they really came to play that night). X has two 18+ victories and one nine pointer that was worse than the score indicated.

X folks you have had your fun now join the rest of us in reality. Lou X wins one game and gets the high national ranking. How did you get the high ranking by beating a team that has earned the hardware for the last six years and been playing the national teams to get the good exposure on a national level. Nice win on Sept 28th and glad to see the tigers doing well in the polls but remember who got you there. Hope to see you in Dec.

If you read the Cincinnati websites after your loss, it was entitled " Ho, hum, another week, another state champion loses to (cincy) St X". When you start giving respect, you get it.

I think the comment that by beating Trinity got us anywhere is very myopic and completely minimizes every team on St X's schedule. X is not 1-0 this season and should you look around, the Manual Crimsons, Lexington Catholic Knights, the Male Bulldogs are at the top 5 of their respective divisions among the other teams on St X's schedule. Let's not think that Trinity is just 0-2 this season and grant the other teams I mentioned some respect. Let me repeat myself, national polls don't mean a hill of beans unless we get by PRP. For once maybe in our schools history, we are focused on the same target, PRP. Times change. It is 2007. Clinton is running for president and it's not Bill.

A high ranking in the polls only spells bad things to come for the Tigers. That's why you will never see me jumping up and down about this stuff. The real poll is decided about 10:30 pm on Dec. 8.....

Exactly! My concern right now is not with any largely ill informed irrelevant national poll. I am concerned with the health of our team. I hope all heal fully...but if Ben Zoeller doesn't come back full speed or has re-aggravations it could spell December Disappointment. As to the failure to finish naysayers, I agree. It has happened in the recent past and there should be a burning desire to not let it happen again. St.X has the talent to win state and not doing so would be a huge disappointment for this talented group. September 28 is gone, national polls mean absolutely nothing--Focus and Finish!

Very fair assesment as well.

Trinity did nothing to get St X to where they are. By saying such a thing you are taking away from all the efforts of the players & caoches THIS year. We're not talking about five of the last six years. If you want to discuss that, start a new thread. If Trinity had won the game and were reanked so high nationally, would you be saying St X helped them get there? Geez, give credit where credit is due. The boys work hard. Both St X and Trinity players. Both programs are awesome! Having two great programs in the state like that helps EVERY kids in Kentucky. And quite honestly, thats what I care about. More than the silly bickering between some St X and Trinity fans trying to one up each other all the time. Focus on the kids!

Congrats all St X coaches, players, & especially big 'ole #76. You're the man & I'm proud of you!!! :dancingpa

So you're saying if X waxed...hmmmm, Seneca instead of T they'd be #3 in the country anyways?

Sorry, no buy.

Manual has 2 mythical national championships so it is not the highest. And I think Male has been ranked 2nd at least once back in the 1920's.

I am aware of 1938. What year was the other National title?

If we take this one step further and look at all three (3) levels of play since this current group of Seniors were Freshman, the current record between them stands at St. X - 10 and Trinity - 3 (with one of T's wins being a rain shortened victory):

2004

Freshman Game - X Won

JV Game -------- T Won

Varsity Game --- X Won

Playoff Game --- No game between the two.

2005

Freshman Game - X Won

JV Game -------- X Won

Varsity Game --- X Won

Playoff Game --- T Won

2006

Freshman Game - X Won

JV Game -------- X Won

Varsity Game --- T Won

Playoff Game --- No game between the two.

2007

Freshman Game - X Won

JV Game -------- X Won

Varsity Game --- X Won

Playoff Game --- Yet to be determined.

Not to steal your thunder, but St. X actually had the best athletic program in the state according to SI. We're ranked #14 in the country.

SI said that after looking through the results of the '06-'07 season, Trinity had the best year.

Surely, you are being facetious (not about the facts, but about who's trying to steal whose thunder). The title of this thread is "St. X ranked #3 in the Country", and you are concerned about stealing his thunder?

Congrats St. X !!!!!!!!!!!

I hate to correct you, BirdieCat, but Trinity won the JV game in 2006 by a 38-7 score, so X has won 9 and T has won 4. :sssh:

Wow!!! Such hens in here!!!!!!!!

Wow!!! Such hens in here!!!!!!!!

AHHH...a fox has entered the henhouse.

Why thank you OX!!! :D:D:D:D

Even if most mid-reason rankings don't mean a hill of beans to me!
