During the 3rd Qtr. Mrs. Streaker went down to the field towards the south endzone to escape the biting nats. She said it was worse at field level than in the stands!

 

One would think the cannon smoke would keep them away! :thumb:

 

So everybody suffered!!!! We thought maybe it was one of the older gentlemens old spice after shave that attracted them when they were visiting us in the endzone. One thing is for sure, we have plenty of people in our ear constantly telling us what we are doing wrong!!!!!! Once again it never fails, we had a reporter decide he wanted to stand directly in front of the cannon during the game. He had the whole endzone to shoot pictures but thought it would be nice to be constantly escorted out of the way.

I'll assume that has to do with my comments on Hoptown being uninspired.

All of those bugs are probably from the wooded area behind the south end zone. They started chopping that area up and the bugs have no other place to go. I believe they're going to get it sprayed. They were bad...

Another species with nowhere else to go in Ft. Thomas. Maybe the school should have had sharpshooters up on the school roof to take them out as they came up the hillside. :banana:

 

I have a question. Why didnt they just play this game on Sat night. It was a beautiful night last night, cool breeze about 68 degrees. Just curious.

I'm sure it had to do with Hopkinsville making the five hour bus trip there and back.

I would assume to save Hoptown the lodging (and extra meal) expense of putting the entire team up for the night. I would think they drove up that morning and back home after the game. Awful long day for those kids particularly after the way the game went.

 

Am I correct that Highlands will make a trip game west to Hopkinsville next year for a return game (home and away series)?

I'm sure it had to do with Hopkinsville making the five hour bus trip there and back.

I'm an "older guy" by BGP standards but I've still got a burn inside of me when it comes time to compete. I love it. I hate playing guys I like because I want to really get after people. In high school football, I was always jacked up - no matter the score. I wanted to kick your fat rump and shut your pie hole if you were lined up across from me. I simply do not understand how high school kids can not be hyped to play the #1 team in the state when I'm hyped to simply play pickup b-ball. Its simply unfathomable.

 

Walking across the field with your helmet off? Having a casual conversation 3 minutes before the 2nd half kickoff while the other team is stretching and getting ready to go?

 

The coach of Hoptown may be a wonderful man but if that's his style and he is OK with it, I'd say he is doing a disservice to these boys. 99.9% of them will have their football days end at the high school level. If they don't take advantage of it and love it like it should be loved, he's failed them. Period.

I'm not making excuses for how they played. Someone just asked why the game was played in the afternoon instead of the night. I agree about making a long trip up and back in the same day.
