September 24, 200719 yr I'm confused now. I know you're Duke all the way in basketball, and you have been rooting for UofL because of Brohm, but I thought Notre Dame was your #1 football team. That obviously can't be the case, so who is your #1 team in football? Yeah, it's obviously not ND
September 24, 200719 yr For once I agree with Sportz Addict. Petrino leaving, Kragthorpe arriving...neither have a thing to do with the Defense playing so badly. I don't know...call me crazy...but the loss of 7 defensive starters, including a first round draft pick seems to be a bigger reason. But then...what do I know? You are crazy! Surely the loss of 7 defensive starters wouldn't impact the defense would it? That's just crazy talk! BTW, call me crazy too. If the defense could stop anyone right now, UL would be at least 3-1 and still in the top 25.

September 24, 200719 yr ^ If, if's and but's were candy and nuts, it would be christmas everyday....I like to think in reality. My thoughts entirely
September 24, 200719 yr I've always found the timing of Petrino's exit a bit curious. It seems having an offense led by a senior in Brian Brohm, a top-10 pre-season ranking, and a lot of media hype would have been a coach's dream. Maybe he knew how bad this defense was, knew he couldn't get it into shape, and cut out before the Titanic hit the iceburg. I know Petrino's exit has been discussed ad nauseam, and I don't want to start a discussion on it, but coupled with how bad the defense has played leads me to believe Kragthorpe didn't have much to work with when he got here. I don't think the records would be much different. Bobby Petrino was already looking for his next job soon after taking the Louisville job. In truth, that doesn't really matter because he did an outstanding job during his tenure at Louisville, but he was ready to climb from the start.
September 24, 200719 yr Their defense is average overall. The defensive secondary is AWFUL!!! That goes to coaching.
September 24, 200719 yr I think the only loss they would have would to UK, and that game may have been different if Petrino was still around. Petrino's defense would have been more disciplined, as would have the entire team.

September 24, 200719 yr IF Petrino were still here I think that UofL would be 4-0 at the moment with a much better offense and a bad defense, but not horrible. But he's not so it doesn't really matter.
September 24, 200719 yr I think U of L would have one loss @ Kentucky. I think the defense would be better, although I'm not sure how much. I think the losses definitely hurt, but I can't see Petrino allowing the lack of discipline we've seen from U of L...he would have cut that out, and that in itself would have improved the defense to some degree. I think under Petrino there seemed to be a higher level of accountability across the board. I'm telling you, anytime a coach leaves and a new one comes in and everyone talks about the old guy being too high strung and "mean" and the new guy is a "player's coach", a breath of fresh air, he treats us like men, blah blah blah...this almost always follows. Not always, but pretty close...

Not always, but pretty close... That's one thing I forgot to mention, the discipline. The penalties we are getting are ridiculous and it seems no one is being held accountable. This team is starting to remind me of John L's in the way that they're playing. Petrino may not have been the players favorite guy but from what I've heard he put the fear of god into some of them and they respected his knowledge of the game. I don't think Kragthorpe has earned anything more than friendship from this team so far.
September 24, 200719 yr If Petrino had stayed at UL, what would the Cards record be? I'm gonna say undefeated or maybe 1 L to UK and a blowout of Middle TN. What do you all think? I say that if my aunt was a man, she'd be my uncle.
September 24, 200719 yr I really think Louisville would be 4-0 if Petrino was still around, especially consdering that their two losses are by a combined nine points ... and yes, I know the Syracuse game wasn't as close as the score indicated. The breakdown in discipline and technique is alarming.
September 25, 200719 yr I don't know where to post this, so I will put it in this thread or if it has been posted on here but this video is pretty funny...
