September 24, 200719 yr If Petrino had stayed at UL, what would the Cards record be? I'm gonna say undefeated or maybe 1 L to UK and a blowout of Middle TN. What do you all think?
September 24, 200719 yr ^ If, if's and but's were candy and nuts, it would be christmas everyday....I like to think in reality.

And................."If a frog had wings then he wouldn't bump...." And If Petrino had stayed imo it would had been for just long enough to jump ship for another job while his stock was up - he still wouldn't have stayed for this season and would have had another job."
September 24, 200719 yr At this point a little day dreaming might be the best thing for you I am disappointed with Louisville's start...but my #1 team in the land is fairing well, and my favorite football player is as well.
September 24, 200719 yr I still can't help but laugh bc Last b.b. season there were the U.K. "Tubby Bashers" and now what some said NEVER would happen with the loyal U.L. fan base (as far as bashing any coaches) and they were enjoying getting on U.K. fans for it , they now have the "K Bashers" My how things change. Maybe the fan base at both schools is really not that different after all. :sssh:

September 24, 200719 yr Petrino leaving is the scapegoat for UL in 2007. The defense is terrible. Nobody could fix the mess.
September 24, 200719 yr For once I agree with Sportz Addict. Petrino leaving, Kragthorpe arriving...neither have a thing to do with the Defense playing so badly. I don't know...call me crazy...but the loss of 7 defensive starters, including a first round draft pick seems to be a bigger reason. But then...what do I know?
September 24, 200719 yr So back to the original quesiton, what would UL's record be if Petrino had stayed? I say 1 loss to UK and the other games wouldn't be close. As has been pointed out, the problem is not with the talent, but they are not getting the most out of it. Not the best time for a coaching change.
September 24, 200719 yr I've always found the timing of Petrino's exit a bit curious. It seems having an offense led by a senior in Brian Brohm, a top-10 pre-season ranking, and a lot of media hype would have been a coach's dream. Maybe he knew how bad this defense was, knew he couldn't get it into shape, and cut out before the Titanic hit the iceburg. I know Petrino's exit has been discussed ad nauseam, and I don't want to start a discussion on it, but coupled with how bad the defense has played leads me to believe Kragthorpe didn't have much to work with when he got here. I don't think the records would be much different.
September 24, 200719 yr If Petrino were still there I think the cards would still be chasing a N.C. appearance. And he would have fixed the defensive problem for sure! Petrino would have gotten rid of :flame: Mike Cassidy.

Cassity would still be there, as would the OTHER D.C. that left....I don't necessarily know what his role was day to day, but that seems to equate to some of the mis-happenings.
September 24, 200719 yr I am disappointed with Louisville's start...but my #1 team in the land is fairing well, and my favorite football player is as well. I'm confused now. I know you're Duke all the way in basketball, and you have been rooting for UofL because of Brohm, but I thought Notre Dame was your #1 football team. That obviously can't be the case, so who is your #1 team in football?
