I honestly believe gambling is in my blood. My grandpa went to the horse racetrack every day of his adult life. Even the day he died. Never bet more than $2 on a race and kept his gambling money in the freezer,

 

My dad is not as much into the track but still likes to wager a bit here and there.

 

I don't know what it is, I guess I just need the action.

 

I have a guy I make my bets with. Friend of a friend, if you will.

 

I started with $50 about 3 years ago, when I was 24, I set aside to gamble with. I was poor then, haha. That account today has a few thousand dollars in it, and it's all gambling winnings. Now, I've won about $3000 the last few years on the Derby (3 straight years hitting the exacta, Bluegrass Cat was a miracle longshot). But most of it is sports and poker winnings. I've been lucky enough to not to have to put any more money into my gambling account since that first $50 investment.

 

I usually bet anywhere between $20-$200 a game, depending on how good the line is.

 

I never bet on baseball, very rarely on NBA, but I love college Basketball. I love NFL and College Football betting too.

No, the next year started my run. (I hit the exacta in all 3 Triple Crown races two years ago) Maybe it was 2 years. They were both over 1000.

I try to stay away from the boat and betting on sports. However, I find myself at the racetrack at least once a week normally. I dont look at it as gambling as much as entertainment, I just love horse racing!(Not trying to sound like 98, but a buddy and I have hit the last 2 Derby pick 3's...) :laugh: The occasional money game on the golf course is up my alley way as well...

I'm telling you, stay awasy from them. They're great until you try to get your money out. Takes months and is a huge hassle. If you plan on just losing, it's fine. :thumb:

That happend to a friend of my, he tried to take his winnings out and it would only let him take a partial amount out.

I learned how to count by playing cards, so gambling's in my blood. Whenever we had family gatherings before my grandmother passed away, it was usually only a matter of minutes before a poker game started up.

 

Back in the early '90s, I did a lot of sports betting — generally only NFL and college FB, but some college hoops — as well as going to Turfway a few nights a week. I did pretty well for the most part, but I had to step back a bit from it to get it under control. Now I don't really bet on sports other than the gentlemen's bet here and there between friends.

 

Still love going to the track, and have been known to sit in front of the computer all day long and bet the races online. I don't have as much time to do it as I'd like this year because of a non-gambling related financial setback earlier this year, and since starting the new job in June I've been playing catchup. I am planning to hit Keeneland for Opening Day.

 

Where I'm from in Warsaw, I can look out the window at my parents' place and see the Belterra, and I enjoy going there. I used to play blackjack a lot, but now prefer poker since they put in their poker room. I'd rather play against someone where I can rig the odds in my favor rather than playing against the house. I don't go very often, though, as I prefer the track to all others. Been known to play poker online, but quit that as I'm pretty convinced that some very shady stuff goes on on those sites.

 

I've had my issues with it in the past where I got too caught up in it, but was able to see the potential for trouble and step back when I needed to. I never play what I can't afford to lose. Period.

 

As it stands, I probably go to the casino maybe 3-4 times a year. Track probably 15-20 times a year (counting playing the ponies online). Other than that, it's the occasional Friday night poker game at my father's and at family gatherings.

I prefer talking to my Broker daily, than I would a bookie or whatever they are called.

 

Wall Street is fixed much worse than betting on sports...I would rather hang out with my bookie 10-1 over my broker...keep up with your investments on your own and you can save a fortune with no broker...

 

Invest 98% your money on your own for profit, gamble a few dollars for fun and profit...

I had a good one last year but it isn't working this year.

Its a problem if it is cutting into your ability to pay your bills, keep your wife happy, spend time with your kids, etc. If you have disposable income and want to blow $400 to $500 a week on betting than that is your right. Just know the downside. I would much rather put that money into an investment.

:thumb: Good Post, too many people "marry" the gambling and forget the important things in life. I would say when one thinks about gambling more than any one of the things that you have mentoned plus others then there is a problem.

I know the first online site I used was an absolute bear to request money from but the one I've used recently was very prompt come payout time.
