September 7, 200719 yr I'll assume your use of quotations around the word stellar is implying that they aren't, in fact, stellar, which is obviously ludicrous. If the arguments you have presented on this topic are the best arguments against soccer you can provide, then I have to admit I have never seen someone argue against something while simultaneously making the opposing point seem irreducibly true. my use of stellar means if they are so in shape, what would an extra ot period/shootout hurt to determine a winner.
September 7, 200719 yr A soccer goalie was walking along the street one day when he heard screams from a nearby building. He looked up to see smoke billowing from a fourth-floor window and a woman leaning out holding a baby. "Help ! Help!" screamed the woman, "I need someone to catch my baby!" A crowd of onlookers had gathered, but none was confident about catching a baby dropped from such a great height. then the goalkeeper, stepped forward. "I'm a professional goalkeeper," he called to the woman. "I'm renowned for my safe hands. Drop the baby and I will catch it. For me, it will be just like catching a ball." The woman agreed: "Ok, then. When I drop my baby, please, please treat it as if you were catching a ball." On a count of three, the woman dropped the baby. Everyone held their breath as the goalie lined himself up to catch it. There was a huge sigh of relief, followed by wild cheering as the goalie caught the baby safely in his arms. Then he bounced it twice on the ground and kicked it 50 yards down the street. ...just having a little fun, folks; as are some others on this thread.
September 7, 200719 yr my use of stellar means if they are so in shape, what would an extra ot period/shootout hurt to determine a winner. So the reason soccer games end in ties is because the athletes are so out of shape they can't play any longer? But, mysteriously, in tournaments they are somehow able to play an additional thirty minutes plus a shootout?
September 7, 200719 yr So the reason soccer games end in ties is because the athletes are so out of shape they can't play any longer? But, mysteriously, in tournaments they are somehow able to play an additional thirty minutes plus a shootout? I didnt say they couldnt. I said what would it hurt to play the extra period to determine a winner in regular season/friendly game
September 8, 200719 yr Author All you soccer haters...Once you have a child who wants to play and Momma signs the form and pays the fee, then you are forced to go to a game...I bet you any kind of money you will get into it. I've done it times four and have seen a million soccer games. Our 10 year old teams have been very successful, and I'm from Alabama a football state I believe. He has two games tomorrow come on down and watch them with me.

For me, it ranked somewhere between watching the grass grow and watching paint dry. :creepy:

September 10, 200719 yr I love watching soccer, I watched the USA vs Brazil World Cup game today instead of watching football..
September 10, 200719 yr Why not play both when you're younger? I played soccer until 7th grade and wish I never woulda quit, I also played football the whole time. My little brother also plays football and just recently quit soccer and baseball because with year round football and basketball its to much, however he still tells me he misses being out there..
September 10, 200719 yr Soccer just isn't exciting enough for my liking. I will say that the last 10 minutes of a WC game can get intense.... its just that whole 80 minutes of kick the can in the middle of the field that I dont like.
