I think taking away their best wide receiever and their best player in the secondary had something to do with the outcome of the ballgame. Especially a team that goes 5 wide. Detmer gets over half of the balls Bricking throws. I'm not taking anything away from Beechwood, because their QB/RB played well in the second half. But not having Detmer offensively hurt the Colonels.

Beechwood was the better conditioned team that morning, and that played the biggest impact in that game. Dixie players were dropping like flies, and I don't recall any Beechwood players going down.

EJ is a great player, but we have enough skill players to run two platoon in a five wide and still have extras. He is the best reciever, but he is by far not the only one. Making the other recievers pick up their play is not a bad idea. Remember when he was a sophmore and Mosier was our best wide out. Mosier got hurt and EJ came from out of nowhere to make a huge impact.

That year I thought it was Brady H. and Scott Gumble ! ( A close one - two )Then Mosier , Gibson , and EJ all had very good seasons ! Then we also had # 5 and #21 out of the back field too ! I liked that O alot better than this years O ! My thinking is make the D adjust to us , if they can . Then take what they give ya , slants , seams or a power game . Then take it and run ! This year I'm not a big fan of the look and see O ! If it was a fast paced spread , wear them out , no time to adjust or sub !:thumb: That I like !!! But maybe Toms working on that !:thumb:

I liked that O too:thumb: , but my point was that a relatively unknown player at the varsity level (EJ) stepped up big when given the opportunity, as did Marty.

Though Metzger, Gumble, and Hunefeld all were big time play makers, Mosier actually led the group with 384 yards recievieng in three games. It took nearly twice that long for someone to equal his stats after he went down but someone did, EJ.:D By the end of the year in 2005 he led the team in receiving yards.

BTW - I loved the old O but wanted more two back sets in running situations. I don't mind the new, but don't see why you should get rid of the old. Also, I am totally convinced that Tom has a plan for meeting both CCH and HHS in the playoffs already. Everything he does usually comes out as an obvious eventuality when looking at it with the benefit of hindsight. Case in point, Trinity 2004, Ryle 2005.

PS. - Please forget about the BC games in both those years please.

When it comes to having your kids have a quality person to look up to and play under such as Tom, Bill Vaughn, Dave Sorrell, Todd Newton, Steve Preston, Stan Spritzky and the rest of the fine coaches at Dixie I think that any strategic definciency that the coaching staff offers is easily overlooked.

I have had two sons play for Tom and three total to go thru school there. I will never fault him for believing in his players. Sometimes it cost him, but most of the time it's worth it. If I had it to do over again,(and I wish I did), I would send them right back to him!

It drives alot of people crazy (me included) that his teams rarely start out of the gate quickly, but that isn't important anymore in a five team NKY 5A district. CCH, HHS, and Dixie know that each year them and either Holmes or Scott will be in the playoffs. No matter what, two of the three will have to play twice with the winner having better than even odds at winning state.

At least someone gets it.

Some may measure a great head Coach by the number of trophies in the case, but that is only part of the story. A great head coach teaches their players how to be better men.

I'm sure Spritzky forgot more football than some people on here will ever know.

Dale was asked about the success of last year's team. He replied," I'll know in about 10-15 years"

See a man that talks about seasons as either winning the state championship or not. Gets that the success of his teams is about what kind of men they will become.

BTW This is the 1st Daleism that I have ever liked. Then again I haven't heard many.

Cov Cath is a solid team with great experience. I think that could go a long way in this game. I say Cov Cath by 10.

 Experience? They lost almost their entire team from last year, along with their head coach. If experience goes a long way in this game, then you have to give the nod to Dixie.

Well, sure, if you look at it THAT way!

I'm not sure I should respond to this. They might not let me in at the CCH home coming game if I do. Of course if they keep playing like this their might not be many people there to stop me.:D

Can someone tell me the last time the Red Colonels were victorious over the Blue Colonels?

Thanks,
