Coach Brossart has some real limitations this year, it is what it is, and that is combined with the fact that I think in spite of Spritzky's coaching ( ) Dixie should have one of the better teams in a while.

Spritzky is a great head coach and person. However, I just think he lacks in the offensive department. And I think I got some agreement from the SK fans last week. However, he may change things up once district play starts like he did last year. With that said, I think this will be a low scoring affair that could really go either way. Dixie is the more talented team, more experienced team, thus they win the game. Dixie pulls away late.

It's not necessarily running that I wanted more, it was the style of offense. The spread offense does not utilize the strengths of this team. This type of offense works great when you have the personnel. Dixie, so far, has not shown me that they have the personnel for this type of offense. As for last Friday's game, anybody can run the ball to the outside against SK at this point in the season. The ends and linebackers get sucked into the middle leaving the edges open. Dixie took advantage of that, and for that, I commend Spritzky. However, knowing what Highlands has, and knowing that CovCath always puts a solid defensive squad on the field, this offense, IMO, will not put much on the board these next two weeks, let alone the rest of the season outside a few games. Again, this is just my opinion which is shared by others, not just me, and it's something we obviously disagree upon. So, we'll just have to agree to disagree.

Offense can be agreeable and disagreeable! :thumb: Spritz needs to listen to what the boys on the line are trying to tell him. They are seeing the problems up close and personal! I do agree that the O has not quite got it all together yet but recievers need to actually "receive and hold onto" the ball and run the right patterns, the line needs to keep going and not let the QB wide open, tackles have to be tight, wrap 'em up! Alot of talent on this team and a few bugs are still working themselves out but I "Believe" it will be a fun filled win season! That said, Go Dixie!:banana: :jump:

I'll give you the great person....I've always found him to be a gentleman, no question. I know his wife and father-in-law well and I think Tom is as nice a guy as there is. However, "great head coach" is something I never thought I'd see next to his name.

Dixie wins the game 21-13. It was a bad loss to Beechwood, but if Detmer doesn't get hurt we would be talking about them being 2-0.

OK, "great" may be a stretch. He is a very good head coach. He's turned Dixie into a respected program. The kids like him, and his peers respect him. Not all can be said about their previous coach.

I think taking away their best wide receiever and their best player in the secondary had something to do with the outcome of the ballgame. Especially a team that goes 5 wide. Detmer gets over half of the balls Bricking throws. I'm not taking anything away from Beechwood, because their QB/RB played well in the second half. But not having Detmer offensively hurt the Colonels.

When it comes to having your kids have a quality person to look up to and play under such as Tom, Bill Vaughn, Dave Sorrell, Todd Newton, Steve Preston, Stan Spritzky and the rest of the fine coaches at Dixie I think that any strategic definciency that the coaching staff offers is easily overlooked.

I have had two sons play for Tom and three total to go thru school there. I will never fault him for believing in his players. Sometimes it cost him, but most of the time it's worth it. If I had it to do over again,(and I wish I did), I would send them right back to him!

 

It drives alot of people crazy (me included) that his teams rarely start out of the gate quickly, but that isn't important anymore in a five team NKY 5A district. CCH, HHS, and Dixie know that each year them and either Holmes or Scott will be in the playoffs. No matter what, two of the three will have to play twice with the winner having better than even odds at winning state.

EJ is a great player, but we have enough skill players to run two platoon in a five wide and still have extras. He is the best reciever, but he is by far not the only one. Making the other recievers pick up their play is not a bad idea. Remember when he was a sophmore and Mosier was our best wide out. Mosier got hurt and EJ came from out of nowhere to make a huge impact.
