September 2, 200719 yr Look at the bright side, GT...this could be the best thing for Michigan in the long term. It stinks right now, but if it ultimately gets Carr out and gets a real coach in, Michigan may very well become the factor that they should be in the national title picture on a regular basis instead of the team that's loaded with talent, but ultimately dissappoints... 1) always losing to OSU 2) usually getting beat in their bowl game if it's against top tier teams and 3) often getting beat by someone they shouldn't at some point during the season If they get a top notch coach, Michigan will be a major factor, IMO because that's the only thing they're lacking. This thread could also be applied to Tennessee and Phil Fulmer... Buckeye fans might enjoy this now, but they may regret it when Lloyd gets the axe. Their run of dominance will end if Michigan gets a coach. He was going to step down at the end of the year before this from all I was told. This makes sure it happens...

Even though Bo is gone he is still everything Michigan football is all about. LSU is a fantastic job, but I think UM has a lot more pull on Miles than UK did on Billy...

September 2, 200719 yr Lloyd Carr has been presiding over Michigan's deterioration as a college football power for many years now. Michigan has been humiliated in several recent bowls at the hands of USC and Tennessee. Since 2000, they have lost non-conference matchups to UCLA, Washington, Oregon, Texas, Nebraska and have a lopsided losing record to Ohio State in the Tressel era. Time for Lloyd to go... I think there are some similarities between the Carr situation and the UK basketball situation from the past fews years. Sometimes its best to move on, even if the coach has been having success. Michigan will make that tough call later this year and don't be surprised to see Les Miles move on to Ann Arbor.

I probably shouldn't bring it up, but Tubby was in the same group. VERY good coaches that don't ever give you a reason to fire them, but don't quite get you where you want to be.

The days of the Big 2 and little 8 are long gone and Michigan's loss to Appy State just adds an exclamation point to the statement. :lol:
