August 24, 200719 yr At some point you simply say "I can't prevent everything" and move on, right? Otherwise, you put a bulletproof vest on your child anytime they leave the house. Right, but it will make some parents feel better. Personally, I wouldn't buy one...
August 24, 200719 yr Right, but it will make some parents feel better. Personally, I wouldn't buy one... If you're not in a traditionally dangerous neighborhood, and you still feel the need for this type of backpack you simply will not ever be able to relax and enjoy life and let your kids be kids.
August 24, 200719 yr This is completely ridiculous. I'm not downplaying the tragedies that have happened, but the bottom line is the odds of it happening to your kid are astronomical against. I get so tired of hearing about whole industries built around preying upon the irrational fears of people. Dang it Jim, I hate it when you post something that I have to agree with :jump:. The only sign this development provides is this country is still filled with people that will try to make a buck when ever and how ever than can. Isn't capitalism wonderful?
August 24, 200719 yr Right, but it will make some parents feel better. Personally, I wouldn't buy one... Wait a minute stud. How can you say in one post that its a parent's obligation to protect his/her child at all costs and then say in another post that you wouldn't buy one? If buying one of these silly things could protect your child in the extremely unlikely chance that they get attacked, I best see little Sticky sporting one of these things around town. Oh, and I've just developed the Super Dooper Plastic Bubble that will remove any chance that little Sticky gets some type of airborne infectious disease. Please send me today $2,000 and I'll drop your box of Saran Wrap in tomorrow's mail.

I would try and read and comment but I can't get pass the 4th word.
August 24, 200719 yr I truely don't find any of this "Funny " , get real people it can and does happen . My children are my life and I would do anythng to keep them safe.

My children are my life and I would do anythng to keep them safe. For every teen killed at school, another 1000 die in automobiles. Do you keep them out of cars forever? (My stat. I don't vouch for its accuracy.)

August 24, 200719 yr Do they wear bulletproof vests? I remember many, many years ago looking down into the crib as my new son slept and realizing what an awesome responsibility I had in protecting him to adulthood. If Ms. Liberty gets some peace of mind by doing something, I say have at it.
August 24, 200719 yr Now you're taking it to the extreme... No more so than buying a $200 backpack for the .000001 percent chance your kid might get shot-up at school. In both cases it's a gross overreaction.
August 24, 200719 yr I simply pray every morning for their safety. And pray that my prayers are answered every day.

My point was that if that is what a parent feels is necessary to protect their kids, who are you to say they're wrong? You've obviously never seen me parent if you think I'm that way. You must be watching the father-in-law. He'll buy two...
August 28, 200719 yr I don't think the Mother did this on purpose. It is a terrible tragedy she and her family will live with forever. We are a society of hurry to work - be productive while your at work - take your work home - be a great parent at the end of the day (shuttle kids to sport's event's band, etc.) Wake up and do it again the next day.
August 28, 200719 yr Do they wear bulletproof vests? No , they are all college graduates, all 3 . But I might have bought them .
