What's next for the Big East?

For me personally, I need to see both WV and UofL maintain their current levels for another few years before I start considering them a year in and year out contender. I definitely feel the BEast is more than holding its own currently against the other BCS conferences though.

It is my opinion that they will recruit better the next 5 years. They have Noel Devine waiting in the shadows of Slaton don't they? If he got into school and stays in school, he will make people forget Slaton quickly.

UL has been in the spotlight cause of UL boys.. how will they fair after that. Neither Slaton, White, or Reynaud are from WV I believe.

You can't blame Louisville for producing some of the best talent in the country. ;) Call me nieve, but I think UL's recent (and hopefully continued) success will help them in nation-wide recruiting. I think they will be just fine.

They have had great success lately. But sadly your not gonna find a Brohm and Bush in Louisville HS's each year.

When UL graduates their last local superstar it will be interesting to see how they stack up.

If Urrutia doesn't go pro he will be a senior the following season. Anderson and Beaumont are only Freshman and while Matt Simms may not actually be local, his family is.

Yeah but your missing the point. My point is I don't think they can rely on Louisville bringing them guaranteed first round talent each year like they have with Brohm and Bush. They will have to get it done outside of LVille. LVille has kinda spoiled them the last 5 years. Take Brohm and Bush away for UL the last 4 years and they were a middle of the pack team in the BEAST.

I didn't realize Elvis and Kerry Rhodes were from Louisville. Learn something new every day...

I can't believe I missed it... ;)

Some of my WVU buddies telling me the Big 10 is courting Pittsburgh and Syracuse...anyone hear anything???

When the Big East is able to play a Conf. Championship game, I'll agree, Until then, They're just top heavy.

A conference championship, while it is fun for the fans, and is a cash cow for the conference, doesn't really make much sense after roughing through a brutal schedule (ie..the SEC), you have to come back and beat another one?

After Brohm, Slaton, and White are no longer at UL and WVU I see the Big East going back closer to mediocre rather than continuing to build towards being great for the reason that SA is pointing too. I dont think teams in the Big East recruit well enough compared to other conferences to sustain the success they have had lately.

What is next for the Big East ??

Imo another season without a national champion in football and next season back to the Big "Least". :D .

But, it has proved itself deserving of the automatic BCS bid that it gets.

JMO but No. Definately not in every season..........yet, last season and this one maybe and that is it. Two seasons to me is not deseving of an automatic BCS bid.

Do you think that EVERY BCS conference deserves its BCS game EVERY season? Other than the BEast of course...

When somebody from a power conference, hello SEC (Georgia) and ACC (Wake Forest), beats the Big East BCS representative in a BCS matchup, I'll consider saying they aren't deserving of their bid. :thumb:
